Meet Badgerkit! (Open)

Badgerkit tumbled out of the nursery and shook the last scraps of moss out of her fur. As leaf fluttered down into the camp Badgerkit leaped up to catch it and pinned it to the ground. The leaf was quickly shredded by Badgerkit's tiny claws. Glancing around camp, Badgerkit spotted a small gap in the barrier and raced towards it. The gap was only a mouse length wide but Badgerkit still managed to squeeze inside. As she followed the tunnel further in to the thorn bush, it opened up into a larger den like structure. Gazing around at her new discovery Badgerkit was determined to make the place her own secret clearing.

 Badgerkit sneakily crawled out into the clearing and scanned the camp for moss. Spotting some at the base of the tallrock Badgerkit took one last look around to see if anyone was watching her as she quickly clawed of a mouthful of moss. Racing across the clearing with the moss jammed in her mouth she squirmed back through the tunnel. She placed the moss in one corner and began clearing thorns and dead leaves from the small space. After grabbing anther load of moss she laid it out is the clearing checking for thorns. After finding three thorns she carefully placed them on the pile from clearing the floor earlier. Badgerkit pushed the thorns towards the side of the clearing and tucked them into a small hole in the bush. She'd done it! She could have a place to spy on the apprentices and train to become the best warrior in the clan. "Guess it's time to start my own training!" Badgerkit said enthusiastically.

Just after Fernkit's daily bathing, she couldn't help but notice one of the younger kittens of the clan suddenly appearing out of the nursery's walls. Unlike Badgerkit, the white and grey she-cat was allowed to leave the nursery as long there were warriors in camp. Her eyes followed young Badgerkit and curiosity picked her interest. After asking her mother permission to go and play with the other she-cat, Fernkit quickly trotted towards the nursery, quickly finding Badgerkit doing something odd in one of the den's walls. "What are you doing?" She mewed, interested in the kit's mischief.

Badgerkit leaned closer to the apprentice's den. The hunting patrol the apprentices were on had just come back and they were taking about the day's training. Edging closer to the apprentices to get a better view Badgerkit stumbled on a rock. It rolled out towards the apprentices and stopped at one's paw. Quickly backing into the thorn barrier, Badgerkit held her breath hoping she wouldn't be noticed spying. "Who's there?" one of them asked before continuing to show off their new moves to the others sitting around the den. "What are you doing?" Badgerkit jumped as she heard another voice behind her. "Oh, hi Fernkit. I was watching the apprentices to see their hunting moves... I'ma go try them later... Want to join me?

Fernkit eyes shone with excitement when Badgerkit told her what she was doing. Spying on apprentices to learn how to be a warrior? What a wonderful idea! The odd-eyed kitten smiled and her tail lifted. "Yeah!" Fernkit purred. She approached Badgerkit and laid down next to the kitten, trying to catch a glimpse of what was happening outside of the den.

Badgerkit moved over to make room for Fernkit as the apprentices continued to talk about the day's training. Badgerkit moved closer to the apprentices' den, leaning forwards to see what they were doing. As one of them leaped on a leaf in the clearing and came back to the circle with the others, they pointed out some mistakes and how to improve them. Badgerkit backed away from the den as not to be spotted as they began reviewing the day's battle training. "Come back here, Fernkit." Badgerkit mewed, baking into the clearing under the thorn bush. "Shall we practice the hunting crouch first?" Badgerkit asked once Fernkit entered the clearing.

 Once They had practiced the hunting crouch the pair went back to spying on the apprentices. By this time one of them had left on patrol but the others were still practicing advanced battle moves. Leaving Fernkit to spy on the apprentices alone, Badgerkit backed out of the tunnel that led to the apprentices' den. Padding out into the center of camp Badgerkit spotted the feather of a black bird laying on the ground. Returning to the secret clearing Badgerkit placed the feather in the center of the clearing and bounded back out into camp. Finding some old springs of heather, she delicately nipped them off the plant near the base and caried them back under the bush. Using her small claws to cut a hole in the heather she took one end and climbed up the thorn bush. Carful not to step on any thorns she slowly made her way up the thorn bush to the ceiling. Weaving the spring of heather into the thorn bush she leaped down on to the sandy floor. Sticking the base of the feather into the hole she created earlier, she pulled on the other end of the heather and nipped off the excess. The black feather was now at the top of the thorn bush. Now I can practice jumping up to catch a bird when it tries to fly away!! Badgerkit thought excitedly.
