Just a Friendly Spar [Tawnyshadow]

Moondancer padded through the marshes, not glancing behind her but all too aware of the clanmate that followed her. Tawnyshadow... They had sparred as apprentices, and that sure felt like it had been a while ago, now. Surely, Moondancer thought, Tawnyshadow would have improved since.

"So, you're a warrior now. How does it feel?" She asked, "Learn anything new?" Care to spar? She didn't ask... But if Tawnyshadow was smart Moondancer knew she would understand what she was getting at.

Tawnyshadow blinked at Moondancer's question. She took a moment to shape her response; it wouldn't do to accidentally offend a warrior, especially someone as respected and important as Moondancer, and she didn't want to come off as arrogant or naive either.

"It's certainly a new expeirence, though I doubt that I've learnt all there is to learn," She said at last, "If it wouldn't be too much of a hassle, could we spar again? I know you've been a warrior far longer than I, and that's why you'll know loads more than me. If we could spar, perhaps I could pick up a few moves?" she hoped Moondancer would agree; they've only sparred once, and yet that spar had taught her a new move, which she still used to this day.

The newer warrior asked to spar... There it was. "Of course," Moondancer responded graciously. The dark silver tabby turned with all the speed and grace her name suggested, not giving Tawnyshadow any more time to prepare as she sprang forward with sheathed claws. "Think fast, Tawnyshadow."

Tawnyshadow tensed as Moondancer turned and lunged at her. she dropped down and rolled away quickly, jumping back to her paws and whipping around to land a blow while her opponent was still unbalanced. A warrior should always be ready for a surprise attack, and this was a good chance to practice her reaction timing.

Tawnyshadow was quick to dodge, and Moondancer felt a smile twitch at her lips as she eyed her opponent. She had learned something after all, it seemed, but that successful counterattack left the younger she-cat vulnerable. She reached out with a quick paw, a solid thwack aimed for the younger warrior's flank.

Tawnyshadow winced at the blow but quickly recovered to lunge forward and snap at Moondancer's leg. Was that a smile she saw on her opponent's face? her heart rose at that thought and her next attack, a flurry of swipes, was dealt with extra vigour.

Moondancer took the blows from her clanmate, feeling teeth brush against her leg and claws part the fur at her shoulder. Tawnyflare was certainly quick... But Moondancer knew a trick to slow her down a bit. She twisted, digging her paws into the damp ground, then jerked one paw upwards, sending mud at Tawnyflare's face. Nothing that would do real harm, of course, but it would take her a moment to recover, hopefully.

Tawnyshadow stumbled back as mud splattered her vision. Blinded by the mud, the she-cat could do nothing else then hiss in frustration. Still, a part of her admired Moondancer's quick thinking. I'll definitely use that move next time!

Her opponent hissed, and Moondancer took advantage of her temporary vision impairment by reaching out, lightly tapping a paw against Tawnyshadow's shoulder. The trick she'd used wouldn't keep Tawnyshadow down for long, probably.

The tabby gasped as she was bowled owl. Of course, having her face shoved into the mud was deeply, deeply unpleasant... But Moondancer did just throw mud into Tawnyshadow's face, so they were even. Right? No, not really. The older warrior dug her claws into the ground, but made no move to attempt to roll just yet. She'd let Tawnyshadow gloat in the small victory, and end it when the younger she-cat wasn't expecting it.

Moondancer... chose not to try escaping just yet. Still pinned.

Tawnyshadow struggled to mantain her grip on the older she-cat. She knew that Moondancer could easily escape and defeat her, and that the hopes of winning this round was almost non-existent. Still, couldn't hurt to learn a few more moves, right?

Tawnyshadow might have had her pinned momentarily, but Moondancer felt that she had already won this spar. The dark tabby dug her claws into the earth, then attempted to throw herself to the side when she felt Tawnyshadow's grip beginning to loosen. Moondancer slipped from Tawnyshadow's grasp, twisting to face the younger warrior with a hint of a smirk. "Much better than last time." Though Moondancer still had her beat... Even if she'd just had her face shoved into the mud.
