The Silence of the Hunt [Open Hunting]

Echomist remained silent as he lead a hunting patrol. Even now he still wasn't one for words. having become one of the senior warriors in Shadowclan, he knew he still wasn't the most experienced though, which was fine. He didn't mind remaining somewhat unimportant. He was able to blend into the background this way. Only having to step up to lead patrols every so often. He was content with that, so that is what he was doing now.

He didn't say anything, only giving a simple nod to his companions as a sign to split up. They could hunt from here. The spotted tom moved along the muddy territory, green eyes scanning for prey, while he kept scents in mind. Shortly the tom found a frog echoing it's chirps and croaks into the night air, unware of the danger creeping up on it.

Badgermask padded quietly after her father - enjoying the silence in the air. While she loved to share tongues with her family when given the chance, she also quite liked whenever there was a comfortable stillness between them, content to share in their company without needing words to muck things up or distract. As they came to a stop and Echomist motioned for them all to fan out, she nodded as she turned to taste the air. It didn't take long for her to locate a mouse hiding on its own and as she dropped into a crouch, stalked forward on silent paws. However as she drew closer, the mouse suddenly grew still before it sprinted away. Her muscles tensed to give chase, but quickly realized it wasn't worth it. She straightened up with a huff, before shrugged her shoulders as she looked around for something else to catch.

Lighttail cracked a small smile at Badgermask’s fumble. Not that she liked seeing things go wrong for other cats, but something about seeing a younger cat miss was endearing. She didn’t have time to reminisce about her own new-warrior days, though. Lighttail was here to hunt. Up ahead, she saw something ShadowClan cats rarely had the chance to hunt: a squirrel, of all things. Knowing she’d probably flop, Lighttail made an attempt to hunt the bushy-tailed creature like a mouse.

Suddenly, the fur on her neck bristled as she picked up another scent. The squirrel seemed to notice, too, and bounded away. Not willing to ignore a predator in ShadowClan territory, Lighttail charged ahead and met the creature face -to-face. When staring into its cruel amber eyes, she was hit full-force with the realization of just what this was. A fox. The thing that took her mother’s memory.

Lighttail let out a yowl of fury as she leapt onto the fox, not even giving it a moment to attack. Still, she knew she’d need the rest of the patrol to back her up if she wanted to defeat the beast.

Lighttail used Jumping Strike, dealing 14 (10+3+1) damage and costing 7 stamina, plus 5 for the hunting roll (topic was posted in Leafbare).
