Solaius [Lapis]

Darkspirit was now into his evening patrols. To not make it look overly suspicious that he only ever went with one warrior at a time, he put himself on a patrol with Comfreyheart as well as Rosepaw. It wasn't like he could put apprentices on patrol alone anyway. The day was pleasantly cool instead of jaw-chattering freezing like it had been. The sun was still out and the birds looked like they were returning from their leaf-bare travels. The thought of sending his sister of all cats on this mission unnerved him. It wasn't exactly safe. Still, he had to think beyond his own family and start thinking about the clan as a whole. If she turned out to be the right cat for the job... well he'd have to just bite the thorn and do it.

"Is there anything either of you can think of that would make patrols better or easier?" He asked them, right before he leaped up and smacked a bird out of the sky that had been flying too low. He dispatched it with a quick bite and buried it swiftly. He'd be back for that starling later. "Or if you prefer mornings or evenings?" Any input would be helpful.

Darkspirit watched and waited patiently for Rosepaw to make her catch. She missed, and he had to try very hard not to smile at her stick covered fur. He gave her a moment to smooth it out, knowing she was a vain she-cat and wanted to look her best all of the time. Darkspirit saw nothing wrong with it. Once she was done they continued forward. Morning for Rosepaw. He logged that away in his mind. Comfreyheart caught two sparrows, her own Skyclan lineage showing through despite Thunderclan training.

"Careful, you almost sound like a Shadowclan cat." He said to Comfreyheart with a smirk. But fine, evenings or her unless she was needed to replace someone in dawn patrol. He listened, expecting her to tell him something that he could do to improve patrols. What he wasn't expecting was to be questioned about himself. What was he to say?

"I'm alright." It was a simple answer, but it was about all he wanted to say for now. He'd never been a cat to let someone in too much, not even his siblings, though he loved them. "I know I've been a right mousebrain and haven't been around the clan much. So I'll have to ask you... both of you. What would you say your strengths and weaknesses are? I'd like to pair up warriors that can compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses." He looked at Rosepaw with a small smile and a knowing gaze.

"And Rosepaw... an important part of being a strong warrior is being honest." And he would say no more about it. It was up to her whether ot not she could swallow her pride for a moment and admit she even had any weaknesses. If she didn't acknowledge them, she'd never be able to compensate for them.

Darkspirit smirked a tiny bit when Rosepaw answered him. Just as he thought. Anyone who wasn't comfortable acknowledging their weaknesses wasn't what he needed. He wouldn't berate her for it. She was an apprentice and she would learn in time, but he didn't feel like she was ready to be a warrior with that attitude. He turned his attention toward Comfreyheart and he inwardly felt dread. She was... probably a good candidate. He hated the thought. Still, he had to do what was best for Thunderclan now and not put his own selfishness first.

"I believe you." He said to her, though he couldn't quite keep the apprehension out of his voice. It was subtle, but it was there. He'd have to put her down as a possible warrior to do the job. She was experienced at least... but would that be enough? What if something happened?

"What would you do if you had trouble with another clanmate, out of curiosity? You said your temper wasn't good. I just want to be thorough and take everything into account. I mean no offense."
