Celldweller [Lapis]

Darkpaw slipped away from Minnowfin... again... and proceeded to hunt the territory on his own. He had gotten bigger since the undead cats had arrived at their camp, with Stoatstar welcoming them in like a fool. He had taken delight in the fact that prey was much easier to hunt now... but not without a touch of guilt for feeling such joy. Newleaf had a lot to do with the fact that prey was plentiful again, but Morningstar had also seen to that by surrendering one of Skyclan's territories to Thunderclan. He felt conflicted and confused. Should he re-evaluate his feelings about his father, one that had been absent for most of his life then turns up with an undead army claiming he was going to fix everything? He didn't know. Nothing was making sense.

The only thing that made sense right now was the natural order of things... and that meant hunting. If he was ever going to kick the Dark Forest from his home, he needed to sharpen his skills first. The fight with Starlingflare had taught him that much. A rabbit was enjoying the new, tender grasses poking up out of the scattered piles of snow. He crept toward it, his lean muscles rippling with every step, then bolted powerfully through some underbrush to get to it. He leaped for it, claws and teeth ready to put an end to the rodent's life.

The rabbit kicked uselessly, but it was firmly caught in his jaws. It was about half his size, but it didn't matter. He was a predator, the rabbit was not. Once it had died, he released it and stood over it. He'd caught a rabbit... but it brought him less joy than he thought it would. I only caught this because of Morningstar... because of Newleaf... It was a defeatist attitude, but he couldn't push the thoughts away. His claws dug into the earth as anger bubbled up inside of him like a burning black tar pit.

"Nice job letting them in, Stoatstar you rat." He hissed quietly to himself before picked up the rabbit in his jaws roughly, as i it had been the rabbit's fault too.
