Birdstar
It felt strange in some way, to have a young apprentice again. Rainpaw was so close to his warrior ceremony, and there was little left to teach him. Quickpaw, though, had barely seen all of the territory. But if she was going to have any new apprentice, she was happy it was one of Wolfblossom’s kits. Glancing over her shoulder, Birdstar gave her patrolmates– her two apprentices –a fond nod.
The trees thickened around them and it wasn’t much longer before Birdstar’s steps slowed, then she stopped completely. Her gaze swept through the bare branches, between the trunks surrounding them. With a decisive huff, she turned fully towards her apprentices. “We’ll work on hunting ground prey today,” she mewed simply before focusing on Quickpaw. “Did you pick up anything about hunting in the nursery? Want to try it for yourself, first?”

Skyclan Territory
Rainpaw found himself glancing curiously at his fellow apprentice, at his cousin, frequently. The idea of having family, of having extended family was still something settling into his chest, but he found he liked the idea. It was strange being the senior, more experienced apprentice. He knew he was close to his ceremony, but it felt like just yesterday he was falling out of trees trying to impress his mentor. Maybe there was even something he could show Quickpaw. Maybe it was all those big-brother instincts Juniperpaw filled him up with, but he found himself wanting to.
Multicolored eyes returned to Birdstar’s flank, and he gave her a simple nod. Ground prey was simple enough. He glanced again towards Quickpaw for her response. “It’s not too hard once you get the hang of it.” He found himself saying, some stilted attempt at reassurance.
