Russetrye’s paws carefully traced a path along the edge of the Thunderpath, keeping a good tail-length away from the black, smooth surface. Not just in case of monsters- there were few on the path, at this hour, and scented from a good moon’s walk away- but in case of ShadowClanners. All good feeling Russetrye had harbored toward the marsh-dwelling Clan was gone. They might have a few good cats, she’d decided, but it wasn’t worth it. The red-pelted molly glanced back at the tom she was patrolling with… Adderdawn, right? He has seemed content to patrol in silence, and for once in her life, Russetrye welcomed the opportunity to just think. About everything that had happened, and then some. Life had flipped upside down the moment she’d charged into ShadowClan territory to save Amberstone. Even though she hadn’t realized it at the moment.
A gust of wind hissing across the surface of the Thunderpath brought with it the scent of ShadowClan. Fresh. Russetrye raised her head, eyes scanning the marshes on the other side of the stone, straining to make out shapes in the railing light. A flash of fur. “Adderdawn… I- ShadowClan,” she finally settled on. No need to raise tensions further by pointing out who, exactly, she thought she’d half-glimpsed in the marsh. Hopefully, everyone would elect to ignore each other, and she could go home and mope some more.
((feel free to start the fight + locust can deal the eye blow whenever! be brutal lol))

Locustcall
You're the pretender, what if I say I'll never surrender?
Locustcall's dark pelt allowed him to blend in seamlessly into the dark pines Shadowclan called home, his only giveaways being the splashes of orange and white. The scent of Windclan border markings had started to waft over the stench of the thunderpath, letting them know Shadowclan was not the only one to leave Highstones. Paranoia sparked underneath Locustcall's coat. A thunderpath still separated them, but he didn't trust the monsters to keep the trespassers away, he personally wanted to keep his eyes on the border. Sometimes alone, sometimes on patrol, but his paws always carried him beside the strange dark stone of the thunderpath.
Locustcall paused, lifting his head when he noticed a flash of red on the other side of the stretch. No way, that wasn't who he thought it was, right? He lifted his tail to signal the apprentice beside him to pause, amber eyes squinting. There looked to be two warriors on the other side of the thunderpath, but Locustcall's eyes were locked onto the red she-cat. If any had spoken her name while he was in their camp, he had neglected to hear it, but she didn't need a name in his mind. Coward, trespasser, and weasel were all fine substitutes.
Silence would be the best course of action, both patrols would be better off ignoring each other, but Locustcall's tongue would not lay flat in his mouth. He needed them to know they were seen and to keep their tails on their own land. He stepped out where the undergrowth was thinner, his thick pelt bristled. There was no need to hide, he was on his territory and they were on theirs... for now. "Know you aren't stealthy. We aren't letting you trespass a third time," he hissed. No cat would be idiotic enough to try and sneak onto their territory so close to the first offense, but reminding the red Windclan warrior of her mistake was just as satisfying as preventing her from repeating it.

The Thunderpath. Harrierpaw had not been back here since one of those monsters had trampled her mother to death when she was just a kit and her name had still been Darling. Had she known Locustcall had wanted to patrol here, she never would have followed him. "Locustcall, I think this is far enough-" The calico warrior silenced her with his tail, eyes focused to something across the Thunderpath. That scent... WindClan?
For a brief moment, Harrierpaw felt delight in seeing a familiar face: Russetpaw. But that delight was quickly extinguished as she recalled some recent happenings with WindClan and Nightstar. She didn't know the full details but was certain about one thing: Tensions between ShadowClan and WindClan were at an all time high. The alliance was either strained or broken completely.
Her dark fur bristled slightly. This may not end well.

Adderdawn
Patrolling was quiet. That was fine. Adderdawn wasn't entirely sure whether he preferred the quiet or not– it would have been nice to have some idle chatter or anything other than the crunch of snow underpaw to keep his attention busy, but at the same time, pleasantries might have made him stalk off and never return. So, quiet was good. It gave him plenty of time to think about how wrong everything had suddenly become. He almost wished their patrol was larger, or that Russetrye was in a chattier mood– spending so much time stuck in his own endless thought-spiral only made him angrier, and angrier, and angrier, and he could feel his legs shaking with every step he took. It was hard to keep his claws from tugging up coarse earth as he walked alongside the younger warrior, but he managed somehow. Instead of ripping out the ground, he bit into his tongue, ignoring the metallic taste that hit his mouth.
He could ignore, for a moment, the taste of his own blood in his mouth when the acrid stench of the Thunderpath reached them– and the murkier scent of their neighbors. Adderdawn's ears lowered, and he lifted his head to scan the opposite territory. Russetrye had noticed their scent too, her soft and shaking voice finally breaching the quiet. "I know," he murmured, golden eyes narrowing. There was a flash of color through the darkness, and then one of their warriors was peeling out of the darkness to chirp at them. Not just one of their warriors– Adderdawn's lip curled at the sight of the tom. His eyes flickered briefly towards the younger cat before returning to the calico. For a moment, Adderdawn stood there stiffly, glowering at the ShadowClanners. Then, he slowly twisted his attention, glancing along the stretch of black earth. No monsters.
Silently, he placed a paw onto the Thunderpath's hard surface, slowly easing himself off the ground and onto the blacktop. He stalled for a moment once all four paws were gathered there; this was stupid, and reckless, and he almost hoped a monster came ripping out of nowhere just to barrel some sense into him. But if no one else was keen on having any sense, he wasn't going to be the only one that did. Pushing forward, Adderdawn slowly crossed the border until he was standing right at the edge of it. His forepaws stretched gingerly foreward until each of them were planted onto the sparse grass on ShadowClan's side of the border. His eyes focused on his own paws for a moment before dragging upwards to settle challengingly on Locustcall. "You aren't very stealthy, either, and aren't you supposed to be?" His tail flicked idly, but his heart was starting to pound. Maybe he'd become more than mean, and had turned plain stupid. Whiskers twitching to banish the thought, he went on softly, "Look, I'm trespassing. Show your might, ShadowClan. Rip my tail off over three blades of grass and really let me know how strong you are. I think I'm starting to doubt it."
ooc: sorry for the wait! it took me a minute to get into adder's headspace for this. he hasn't started the fight yet but definitely done something stupid; if it hasn't started when the order gets back to me next, he will then <3

It was him; Russetrye’s stomach churned. The red-pelted molly narrowed her eyes in response, attention fixed on the calico tom, fully intending to keep walking- and then- “Adderdawn-“ she glanced frantically up and down the Thunderpath, tail lashing. No monsters that she could hear or see, but- the young warrior scampered after her Clanmate, fur bristling. Hopefully they could still get out of this without a fight- her eyes met- Harrierpaw? Well, at least she could hopefully count on the other molly to be level-headed… right? Her heart pounded- stars, what was she doing? “What are you thinking?” she hissed, paws touching the marshy ground. “Let’s leave- how ‘bout that-“. If she ignored the ShadowClanners, maybe they’d… ignore them?

Locustcall
You're the pretender, what if I say I'll never surrender?
Locustcall expected the cats to leave. Maybe they would spit and hiss insults at him from across the strange dark stone of the thunderpath, but they would leave. No one would cross a border with a warrior glaring right at them... but he seemed to have underestimated Windclan's intelligence.
Furrowed, angry brows raised in incredulous shock when the dark tom the she-cat was with cautiously stepped up onto the thunderpath and advanced towards him. Locustcall didn't move, couldn't move, stunned by the absolute gall the Windclan displayed. He expected him to stop on the thunderpath. He didn't. He then expected him to pause right at the very edge, almost trespassing, yet not. He didn't. No, the pointed tom didn't stop until his paws touched the grass on Shadowclan's side of the border, and by then Locustcall had become a bristled ball of wrath, his tail lashing behind him.
The red she-cat followed suit to warn her friend, but she was trespassing too. Trespassing again! Locustcall's lips pulled back into a snarl. "I don't understand how Nightstar thought making an alliance with you flea-bitten rats would be useful. You clearly have nothing but air in your heads!" He hissed, his muscles tensing beneath his thick hide. Clearly they didn't learn the first time, but Locustcall didn't mind giving them the same lesson again, dragging to injured warriors back into camp and forcing them to look at their mistakes.
His gaze was deadset on the tom, but then his gaze shifted to the coward. The brown warrior wanted a fight, wanted to be hit. A strike on him would not be a punishment, but a reward. Her though? An ugly, rancid connection formed in his head, and he didn't care enough to break it. "You want to fight? Fine! I'll show you again why Shadowclan isn't to be played with."
The tension in his legs released, springing him forward. His claws launched around the she-cat, barreling his weight into her as his teeth lashed out at whatever flesh it could reach. He felt his canines dig into the side of her face, then as he clamped his jaws down harder, hit something much softer and more vital than just flesh. Yet, he was seeing red, he didn't care what he might have punctured as long as he tasted iron on his tongue, and he tasted plenty of it.
Locustcall used Jumping Strike, costing 7 SP and dealing 8 damage! (+3 from first attack and +1 from Night Finesse)
Russetrye: 28/40 HP (-12) 100/100 SP
Locustcall: 50/50 HP 120/120 SP
OOC: Sorry it took me a second. Got busy IRL.

Given her history with the Thunderpath, it was hard to watch as Adderdawn crossed it with only a slight pause. True fear only kicked in when one of the WindClan warriors crossed the border. Maybe it was just his toes, but that would be enough for any, if not all, of her clan to find reason to draw blood. "Locustcall-" The scarred calico tom was already in action, his teeth already sunk deep into the russet she-cats face.
She couldn't believe it. She had heard tensions were high between WindClan and ShadowClan when she returned from her Twoleg capture, but... This was ridiculous. It was on sight! If she helped Locustcall, she would feel guilt for the rest of her life. If she helped Russetp- Russetrye, she would be branded a traitor to ShadowClan. Neither outcome ideal, Harrierpaw shrank back. She would be no match for a seasoned warrior... But what would happen to Locustcall if he had to fight the two alone? A low growl clung in her throat. Locustcall was a fool. Harrierpaw crouched low and launched herself at Adderdawn, overgrown claws outstretched.
Harrierpaw used Jumping Strike on Adderdawn. (+3 attack for first hit, and +1 for Night Finesse)

Adderdawn
When his paws touched the ground, the large calico in front of him was bristling, nearly trembling with wrath. It sent a chill through Adderdawn, freezing through his legs. The snarling insults that followed immediately only made his heart race, nearly thundering. The heavy, damp scent of the marsh was thick in the air– right alongside fear. Adderdawn forced a thick swallow and kept his narrow gaze focused on the ShadowClanner. He'd let some maddened twist of justice drive him here; digging his claws into the soft earth, he resolved to stand. He was not the type to run, even when his mind shrieked what a terrible idea this had been and how he should get to WindClan's side of the border, fast.
ShadowClanner's eyes slid icily off him, focusing on Russetrye. Adderdawn watched the muscles tighten under thick fur. His own muscles flexed, ready to push himself to the side and take the blow he could see coming, but calico fur shot past before he could lift a paw.
Teeth barely connected before red was soaking into Russetrye's fur. The bite sounded far wetter than it should have. Adderdawn's stomach rolled with terrified nausea.
He didn't have time to process it, to shriek or wretch or slam his weight into the warrior before he was being bowled over, too. He would have thought the cat was an apprentice, just by how young she looked... but she was his size or bigger, and her claws felt heavy where they dug into him. Panicked, Adderdawn wrenched around, his own teeth flashing. He thought his jaw closed around her ear, but he wasn't sure. He just snarled, tasted blood welling around his tongue, and wrenched himself backwards.
Adderdawn used Snap on Harrierpaw, dealing 8 damage and costing 7 SP.
