Reaching out [closed]

Stretching his legs out in front of him, Astershine loosened his muscles, preparing to leave Fourtrees for the first time that day. He hadn't left Skyclan's makeshift camp since he'd waken earlier that morning, and he wanted to go out at least twice before sundown. The sun already hung high in the sky - with each passing day the sun set earlier, he never had as much sunlight as he thought he did, and he was no Shadowclanner. Hunting after dark wasn't an option, so he needed to leave soon.

Before he was able to leave, though, he needed to find someone to take with him. Unfortunately, many cats were busy, out on patrols of their own, he assumed. There were a few cats lingering about the clearing who didn't seem like they were particularly occupied, though. The closest to him was an apprentice, one he was able to put a name on. "Oh, Lightningpaw, is it? You're good friends with Creampaw, right?" Astershine had seen the two talk to each other before. Even if they weren't as good friends as he thought, it was something that they could talk about. "What are you up to right now? Do you happen to be busy? I'm heading out of camp to hunt soon, do you want to go and get some extra practice, maybe?"

Lightningpaw blinked as Astershine approached her, questioning her friendship with Creampaw. After a moment, she realized it wasn't that strange- right, he was Creampaw's mentor, that made more sense than a warrior randomly asking her about her friends. "Yeah, we're friends! He's my best friend."

She considered what she was doing. It was really just... Pacing. Very fast pacing. She did that a lot, and she liked doing it, but it wasn't like she couldn't still do it later. "Nothing really," she admitted. Then he asked if she wanted to go hunting. "Yeah, sure! Bit of practice never hurt anyone!"

It wouldn't hurt to get to know her friend's mentor a bit better- Creampaw could be... Nervous? Shy? Awkward? All of the above? And it was her responsibility as his best friend to make sure he was in good paws!

Lightningpaw's answer was addressed by a simple response. "Oh, good." Astershine had been planning to leave no matter what Lightningpaw's responce would be. A voice in the back of his mind told him to bring someone along, though. He'd have probably asked one of the other idle cats in camp to accompany him if Lightningpaw had better things to do. "I'm going now, then. If you're ready, follow me." He stated light-heartedly before heading toward the edge of the clearing.

The frigid breeze pushed against him as he left fourtrees, the thinning trees providing far less protection from the winds than the thick oaks surrounding Fourtrees. "Sheesh, How do Windclanners survive leaf-bare? It's so cold." The words were spat out between chattering teeth. Quickly, he led Lightningpaw into the edge of Thunderclan's forest, seeking refuge from the bitter wind in denser wood. They were still on the border, and given Skyclan's current circumstances he was sure that any nearby Thunderclanner would be forgiving about their proximity to the territory. "So," He exhaled, looking over to the apprentice. "I plan on going out to Skyclan's border and hunting there a bit. Sound good?" While he waited for a confirmation from Lightningpaw, he squinted at the area ahead of him. It was much harder to figure out where they were going when he wasn't on a path - or even in his own territory. Instead of struggling to find direction, he kept the river in his sights, following it from the treeline. He was sure that if they followed the river they'd make it.
