December Medicine Cat Meeting 2022

Burdockpaw was the first medicine cat to arrive. Comical, since she was only an apprentice. Not comical, because she had literally been sleeping not far from the cave. Batsong hadn't shown up either. If she was a normal cat, she would be nervous. Only once before had she attended a meeting, and now she was attending it alone. Fuzzybelly was too sick. With a sigh, she picked up her paw to inspect her claw while she waited for the other medicine cats to join her.

"alright Birchpaw... we best be g-going... she sighed as she left camp with her apprentice behind her.

Batsong was not eager at all for this meeting.  She arrived a little after Burdockpaw, the two of them had the shortest of distances to go, their temporary camps both a stonesthrow away from here.

Batsong wasnt looking forward to meeting with starclan, what did the dead want to tell them now that things were already in the dumps?  some advise starclan had given so far to get them into this mess.

She was upset rightfully so that Whisper and many others were taken away and not in the mood to socalize with other med cats right now, even less so than normal.


She still had to remember that she represented windclan while here, just ... be nice and hope that they dont want to talk alot, the shy she cat said to herself


She gave a flick of her tail in greeting to the shadowclan apprentice already there.  Hmm so fuzzybelly was still sick?  Poor guy, she hoped he would recover soon.

"l=let me know if you need any herbs to help with fuzzy  shadow and wind had been living next to each other for awhile now... she figured the least she could do was try and socalize a little bit as much as her reserved nature didnt love doing so.

She sat down and was content to wait in silence for the rest of them to show up

Plumleaf was once again heading to Highstones alone. After Fogfeather's reappearance during the earthquake, she had been relieved and overjoyed to see him. But it seemed that in the chaos of trying to flee camp, he had been lost somewhere in the shuffle, along with their dearest Briarstar. She still had hope that he would return, but it was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain her optimism in the face of so much loss. Even the excitement she usuallv felt when sharing with Starclan had been dimmed. Judging by the last vision she'd received, Starclan likely had nothing but bad news to share tonight. Though it did come as a small relief to see the Windclan and Shadowclan medicine cats, and to see their clans thriving in their new residence near Highstones. She could only hope Thunderclan had the same good fortune. Although it seemed like everything around them was falling apart, Plumleaf had faith that the medicine cats could guide their clans through it together.

"Good evening." She greeted, a warm smile on her face as she dipped her head to the other medicine cats. "It's good to see you all, I'm glad to know your clans are safe. Skyclan is... as well as we can be, all things considered. We returned to Fourtrees after we were sure the twolegs had gone, though they seem to have left several of those weird silver mesh containers behind, so I'd advise you to warn your clans if you haven't already. Has anyone heard from Fawnshine? I do hope she arrives safely."

Burdockpaw sat in silence as the other cats joined, and finally Fawnshine joined. She shifted her weight on her paws and answered what she thought a normal medicine cat apprentice would say. Only one time before had she actually been to a meeting, her first one. "Fuzzybelly is sick." The gruff apprentice said simply. A normal cat would be worried, and she supposed that she was in some way, but Burdockpaw didn't worry like most cats.

Batsong gave a little nod to Fawnshine. "w-well as we can be" she answered politly but also leary of going into great detail, no reason for that... everyone knew this was a tough time for all.

Sandy was alone again and batsong frowned. So Dove had not recovered? That was a shame, Batsong liked working with her.

"Im s-sorry Sandypaw, losing a mentor is very hard" she offered quietly dipping her head a little.

"if y-you still need training completion, I w-would be happy to help any way I can she said more quite in a 1-1 with sandypaw (she doesnt know sandy has completed yet, Windclan hadnt been told of Poppy and Sandy's journey).

"lets get this over with she was still not looking forward to speaking with starclan, they never had any good news for her and she was tired of their vague and unhelpfulness, their riddles in the dark that left them all guessing and wondering why they hiked halfway up a mountain to reveal something either too difficult to understand or get a warning of something already upon them.

She for one wouldnt mind if they started doing this every other moon but now didnt seem like the appropriate time to bring that up. Then again, she wouldnt mind if they scarped the whole thing altogether, if starclan didnt wanna be of help she was fine not listening to them... give em a few moons of not talking with em, maybe then they would speak in terms that were understandable and would tell of something that was actually and helpful. Perhaps next meeting she could ask her co-workers if any of them felt the same but right now the clans needed to stick together and if that meant pretending to enjoy this waste of time that was worth it she supposed.

She was usually more eager for these things but this moon had been very trying.

She led the way making sure Birchpaw was close and went into the cave, into the darkness following the familiar route until getting to the stone. She wasted no time in settling in and dreaming beside it nose pressed to the cold stone.

"I'm sorry about Dovesight. Starclan will welcome her with open paws." Plumleaf offered, sending the younger medicine cat a small, supportive smile. "I'm here for you as well if you need anything" She'd never really had a steady mentor, so she oculdn't really understand the feeling of losing one. Then again, she'd been mentored by Dovefrost briefly, though his death had affected her differently because he was her father. Regardless, it was never easy to lose someone you cared about. She followed Batsong into the cave, unable to shake the feeling of dread that lingered from the last meeting. Sitting beside the stone, she pressed her nose lightly to it's surface and closed her eyes.

Burdockpaw followed the other medicine cats into the cave, aware this would be her first omen without Fuzzybelly. She wondered how actual omens go. Were they all like the first one? Settling in on her stomach, Burdockpaw pressed her nose against the stone.
