Nightdancer stalked gracefully through the undergrowth, tailing a bird. It flitted from branch to branch above her, well out of reach- for now. When it slowly descended, she made her move: she had done all she could to prepare, leaving the rest up to chance. She could only hope this particular bird was slower than most. Or at least that it wasn't in a hurry.

Unfortunately for her, the bird was startled and fled; leaving her to turn and see what had startled it. Her own approach had been- not entirely flawless, but close.

The sight that greeted her was an owl, and she let out a low hiss to express her frustration. And a moment later, she physically expressed that same frustration with a flurry of blows intended to ground her unexpected opponent.

The Owl used Talon Strike, dealing 7 damage and costing 10 SP!

Nightdancer used Front Paw Strike + Thunderous Stomp, dealing 8+2 damage and costing 17 SP! The Owl is Stunned for 1 turn!

❒ Briarrose was currently on a hunting patrol with a few of her clanmates, this time as a warrior. She'd been an apprentice for a while and had gotten used to referring to herself as such. It was strange yet invigorating to see herself as the warrior she had become. Her mother's pride and love gave her the extra motivation she needed to do even better than she had been doing before. She wanted to show her how much she appreciated her faith and care.

❒ As she scented around in search of prey, the molly straightened up and her head whipped around at the distant sound of a battle. What? She abandoned her search and raced over to where the worrying sounds were coming from. It didn't take long for her to come across the source. It was Nightdancer! She was currently fighting and defending against an owl. The young warrior narrowed her eyes and instantly jumped into the fray with the hope that with her help, the battle could end with only a minimal amount of injuries. No injuries were the most desirable but it was too late for that seeing the rough marks on Nightdancer's back. The owl had gotten a few good hits in.

❒ Taking advantage of its stunning state, Briarrose got in close to the feathered beast and snapped her jaws closed on one of its wings. She tugged it harshly for a moment before jumping away before it could retaliate. It was looking weaker and weaker every minute that passed. Good. They could even bring it back to camp as prey. It was a funny thought just imagining a large owl draped haphazardly on the prey pile. Hey, food was food. If it was edible and didn't make anyone sick, it was welcomed.

Briarrose's intervention was welcome, as Nightdancer took a brief moment to catch her breath before lashing out again herself. "Thank you," she managed as she lunged forward again. "I... Appreciate your help." Stars, why was it so hard to simply thank one of her own clanmates for their assistance?

(How long had it been since she talked to anyone when she didn't have to, anyway?)

❒ Briarrose dipped her head at the thank you aimed her way. "I will always do my best to help my clanmates," she responded with a warm look in her eyes and a tiny smile. She still wasn't so good at interacting with her fellow peers but she's trying her best. She's much more comfortable with her family or kits. She'll get there, though. She just needed to keep trying. She turned her attention back to the owl and waited for Night to make her move before Briar finished things off with a well-placed bite to its neck. She stepped back as the feathered creature went limp. It was over.

She scanned the other warrior to try and catalog anything noticeable. She briefly glanced at the large, dead bird before turning back. "Will we be bringing the owl back to camp?"

Beetleshade was tagging along near the back of the patrol, her eyes scanning the underbrush as she searched for prey. She thought she'd caught the hint of a tantalizing scent, but just when she made to follow it she was interrupted by the furious sounds of battle. She rolled her eyes, letting out an annoyed huff before turning and rushing back to her clanmates. As Briarrose closed her jaws around one of the owl's wings, Beetleshade struck out at the other, raking her claws through the dense feathers.

Beetleshade used Front Paw Strike, dealing -10 dmg and -7 stamina

"We can bring it back," Nightdancer mused. "If nothing else, I'm sure the kits will enjoy having feathers to play with. As for me, I feel perfectly fine- there's no need to turn around just yet."

As if to showcase that she felt just fine, she dashed after the first prey-scent she caught wind of. Squirrels were something she was more suited to than birds, she thought; they, like her, were mostly earthbound. Oh, they played at flying, scrambled up trees and moved from branch to branch; but they weren't meant for it in the way birds were.

The squirrel was an easy catch: she moved with precision to capture it between her paws at the base of a tree, able to kill it swiftly before it could escape.

Nightdancer caught a Squirrel, costing 3 SP!
