There was a slight chill permeating the morning air these days, dew settling gently upon blades of grass and greenery that sheltered under the canopy of ThunderClan trees. Thistlemask drew in a long breath, enjoying the way leaves were beginning to gain the familiar warm hues of Leaf-fall, a slight nagging voice in the back of her head worried about prey, something she silenced as she fought the urge to continue to get off topic. Shaking out her pelt, the deputy leapt onto Highrock, feeling less out of place as ceremonies became more common - she could do this. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!"

It would be time for another apprentice to join the ranks of Thunderclan. This time, it was a face she hadn't seen born on their borders. No, instead, they'd found themselves raised among their ranks past the start of their life, much to the begging of her own daughter to let them stay. It would be some time before she knew whether or not the choice was the correct one, but at least for the time being, there was no reason not to hold them back from the rites left due to other Thunderclan-born kits. Mottlestar found her place among the crowd, offering friendly smiles and banter to any clanmate who happened to stop by to talk to her.

Shamlian walked towards the huge rock, sitting down not far from it's base. He placed his tail over his paws as more cats emerged from their dens. It still made him uncomfortable to be around so many other cats. It was strange, none of them had acted like he'd expected. Not many had talked to him, and those who had didn't make fun of him for his claws. Is this how everyone else feels? He wondered.

It had been a few days since Mottlerose, or, well, Mottlestar now, had told him that Shamlian could stay. She said that he would become an apprentice, be given a new name and trained by a mentor. He'd seen this happen with a couple of other kits, and all ceremonies started like this. Was it his turn now? He got a little excited, wondering what his new name would be. He also wondered about his mentor. Would they be kind to him? I hope my mentor likes me! He thought, looking up at Thistlemask. Who will they be?

Thistlemask waited for a moment, allowing the clan time to pool at her feet before continuing with the words she had carefully practiced, feeling sympathy for the tom about to receive his apprentice name and officially join ThunderClan. It was hard not to recognise the apprehension in his steps, as it was something she experienced all too strongly for moons after becoming Thistlepaw, and she made a mental note to speak to the tom when possible to try abrade his concerns. Clearing her throat, she begun. "Shamlian, step forward." The deputy gave the tom a moment, stepping forward a little herself to get a better view. "As a new member of ThunderClan, you will be given a new name, and a mentor who will teach you everything you need to know to become a warrior. From this day, until you receive your warrior name, your name will be Crimsonpaw," Smiling at the tom, she continued. "Your mentor will be Comfreyheart, as I could not think of a more welcoming and dedicated cat to assist your training." Thistlemask jumped down from the stone, concluding the ceremony.

The moons following her apprentice's disappearance had disrupted the warrior's life in a way she never expected it to, and all she hoped for was for the young tom to return. She missed the days she spent with him tumbling in the sandy hollow or chasing rabbits through the woods. She partially felt like she had let him down in some way. Though more prominent in her day-to-day was the grief of no longer being a mentor. To train Thunderclan’s young was one of her greatest joys, so now it felt like a hole was left in her life.

Nonetheless she was glad to hear Thistlemask announce a ceremony. It was always thrilling to hear another young kit ready to begin proving themself to their clan. Comfreyheart eagerly sat near Mottlestar, peeking through the crowd to get a glimpse at the graduating kit.

Intriguingly, this one was not of the usual Thunderclan heritage, having been accepted into the clan from a previous life in the Twolegplace. Comfreyheart grew curious to see how this outsider would adjust to his new warrior life, though judging by his already present scars and permanent claws, he might already be capable of himself.

Thistlemask had begun, reminding her of the name floating in the back of her mind. Shamlian. But now, Crimsonpaw. She wondered if the tom’s full name might end up as Crimsonclaw. What a fearsome name that’d be for such an anxious kitten.

She had to listen twice as the mentor was announced, before smiling with joyous pleasure. She had someone to train again! Comfreyheart nodded gratefully to Thistlemask, glad the deputy could trust her with this particular apprentice. She rose to her paws and made her way through the parting crowd. “Hello Crimsonpaw,” she smiled sweetly, “I don’t believe I ever formally greeted you, so Welcome to Thunderclan.”

Shamlian stepped forward shakily as the deputy directed. He listened in awe as he received his new name. Crimsonpaw... He was glad they'd chosen to name him for his pelt color rather than his claws. He looked around as his mentor was announced until he saw her walking towards him. Crimsonpaw turned to meet her. "Th-thank you," he stammered in response to her greeting. She was an older warrior, and seemed very sweet and kind. Some of Crimsonpaw's fears were resolved, Comfreyheart seemed happy to be his mentor. "I-I'm ready to learn what you want to teach me."
