Familiarity [closed]

A heavy sigh left Clementine as he, yet again, traversed the twolegplace in search of recruits. At this point he'd need to start taking the jobs of other factions along with his own- the order's numbers were dwindling. Even if he found loners who didn't want to fight, none were interested in joining the order. What was unappealing about joining a group to help you survive? He shook his head.

The orange tom hadn't been walking for long when the faint chatter of kits echoing against the stone walls caught his attention. It made his fur stand on end, he wasn't expecting to find anyone back here, much less, kits. Kits weren't anything to be afraid of. Their parents, however, were. So, Clementine proceeded with caution. Carefully stepping forward, his eyes scanned the area around him. "Hello? It's not safe for kits to be out here."

Butterfly giggled, bouncing along next to Forest. She was a bit sad that Pebble and Peri couldn't come, but Forest said they'd be sticks in the mud- especially Peri. She supposed that was a little true. He was bad at having fun. She'd teach him when they got back, she decided. For now, she was happy to hop in and out of cardboard boxes with Forest. "Hmm, I don't know..." She said, tapping the soggy floor of the box she was in. She didn't like the idea of having a wet pelt all the time. "Is your box all wet too?" She asked, leaping out of her box and into his. It wasn't. In fact, it was quite comfortable. "Oooh! I like this box. We could all fit in here!"

She smiled at Forest, but he was already leaving the box. "Hey, wait up!" Her long, fawn-like strides brought her to his side and she gazed up at the stranger. "Oh hello!" She said brightly, smiling. "Why is it not safe? Are there rogues??" She asked, eyes wide. Beechfang had also told her something about it not being safe for a kit. But she'd never actually seen anything dangerous... Well except for monsters. And that fox, one time. "My name's Butterfly. Forest, tell him your name!" She bumped her brother, looking at him expectantly before turning back to the grown-up tom. "What's your name?" She squeaked.

Not one, but two kits appeared from the darkness, in strangely high spirits. Admittedly, it surprised Clementine, but he only outwardly showed this by slightly raising his eyebrows[do cats even have eyebrows?]. The kits seemed to have mild manners but absolutely no regard for safety. He held back from making a comment about how you couldn't 'smell' danger, when he realized that danger having a smell was relevant to his situation. Lifting his nose to the air, he searched for another scent, one possibly from these kit's parents. They didn't come from nowhere, after all.

After concluding that sniffing would get him nowhere, he crouched down to the kit's level. His eyes narrowed at the the word rogue. It put a bad taste in his mouth. Brushing it over, he opened his his mouth to ask their names before Butterfly spoke first, unintentionally introducing her companion, who he learned to be Forest. "My name is Clementine." He answered, looking over both of the kits. Both seemed unharmed. "Do you guys have parents? What are you both doing out here?" Hopefully he could squeeze more information out of kits than he could from a fully grown cat. "Do you two live out here?" He hated that it was his first thought, but these two kits would be useful to the order... if they didn't have family who'd oppose.
