Since ShadowClan's return to their own territory, Leopardsun had harbored a lingering suspicion that predators may have encroached upon their land in their absence. A great deal of searching brought a few leads to follow, and one of them led close to ShadowClan's border with WindClan; the Hidden Outcropping. She had requested a few warriors accompany her, so that any threat encountered could be easily dispatched.
"This might be dangerous," she warned her companions as they approached. It was nothing they wouldn't already know, but it never hurt to be thorough. "Or it might be nothing. We don't know yet, but I want to be sure we're prepared- I'd like to prevent any unnecessary injuries. So, let's regroup: are you ready to proceed?"
Rookfire padded behind Leopardsun. The black tuxedo had grabbed a couple cobwebs from the medicine den, just in case someone got hurt from the potential predator incursion. And if the predator was indeed there... well, Rookfire had killed a fox before with Iniko when he was an apprentice, so he was one of the perfect cats for the job. "Yep," he said, grinning at the ShadowClan deputy. "I grabbed a couple cobwebs in case someone gets really injured or something. And I'm more than ready to fight tooth and claw if I need to." The black tuxedo gazed at Forestbreeze and Iceheart, silently asking them if they were ready as well. No time for second-guessing yourselves now. We gotta be ready for a fight.

❒ He slowed his pace alongside his patrolmates as they approached their destination. He tilted his head to glance at Leopardsun then at Rookfire and gave a singular, firm nod. "I am," he responded readily. "Thank you for bringing the cobwebs," he said to Rook after a moment of silence. He turned slightly to give Iceheart, who had been asked to go on the patrol as well, a faint smile. He schooled back his face and faced Leopardsun as he waited.

Iceheart gave a confirming nod of her own. “I am ready,” she promised. She had fought her fair share of large predators in the past, including several dogs. She was confident in their current lineup. If there were predators currently living in their territory after their absence, then they will be drive out by the crew of cats led by Leopardsun. She met Forestbreeze’s gaze before he turned back, and offered him a brief smile in return.
Leopardsun nodded once, a confident smile on her face. "Good thinking, Rookfire- you never know what you might need. If everyone's ready, let's start investigating the area. If anyone encounters something suspicious, signal- without alerting the threat!- and the rest of us will run to aid you. Just make sure you stay within range."
As if to demonstrate, the deputy dashed off at once herself; the tall-growing fields made it difficult to navigate solely by sight. But she was a good hunter, and had a sharp sense of smell- she was searching for anything that seemed off. The only difficulty from her perspective was their proximity to WindClan, a strong scent in its own right that might be helping to mask any others.
The scent-trail was easy to find, and she followed it cautiously; scouting out where the source of it was sleeping- the familiar red-and-black of a fox's pelt was clearly visible even through the foliage. But was it alone?
Silently signaling for the others to join her, she hoped that the others wouldn't run into trouble on their way to her- after all, she didn't know for certain if it was just one. For all she knew, it could be a fox den and a whole family of them; which was why she lurked silently in the shadows of tall grass as she waited.
Investigation- Each user rolls the Effect Dice. If someone rolls a 6, that cat discovers (one of) the predator(s) first- if no one rolls a 6, the predator(s) will get the first attack!
Leopardsun has found a Fox, but is unsure of whether that is the only threat!
Rookfire followed Leopardsun quickly, making sure to stay quiet. As he searched the outcropping, he couldn't find any sign of a predator living there. It almost upset him, but it could still mean that maybe, there weren't any predators here after alllll.... and Leopardsun's signalling him to come over. Quickly making his way over, the black tuxedo gazed at the pelt of what was absolutely a fox.
"We need to strike quickly," he whispered, making sure that only Leopardsun could hear him. Even with his Asylum training, though, he didn't feel comfortable attacking a fully-grown fox without her help. After all, it might have backup, a fox's den somewhere that he didn't immediately spot. And if it did... well, it still might be best if they attacked first, but he would let Leopardsun lead the charge if they did so.

❒ Forestbreeze hurried after Leopardsun and Rookfire as the deputy beckoned them to join her. He had been hoping to not find anything during this patrol but that hope was squashed the moment they all noticed the sleeping fox. The grey-and-white warrior was on high alert instantly. They could attack it quickly as Rookfire said. They did have the advantage. However, it's best to wait for now. Its den could be hidden somewhere further away from where it slept. It could be a whole family of foxes who would rush to their family member's aid the moment they heard it in distress. The tides could change at a drop of a rock and they could become the ones being ambushed.
❒ He quietly moved away from the group to see if he could spot a fox den or even just another fox. He, of course, didn't separate far. It's best to stay relatively close to the patrol in case of any dangers. The tom strained his senses to get the best possible scope, gaze flicking around to spot even the smallest of movements.
Forestbreeze could not spot anything else!
❒ Even after a minute or two of careful observation, he could not spot anything that screamed "danger". There were no other foxes nor were there any hidden dens. Perhaps he didn't search far enough? For now, he decided to return to his clanmates. Maybe they spotted something from where they were.
❒ The warrior quietly walked back to the patrol, eyes and ears still peeled for anything. He reached his three companions with nothing alerting him on the way back. "No dens or other foxes from over there," he whispered while gesturing to the direction he came from. It had been far below and to the left of the sleeping fox. He wasn't crazy enough to get too close to it, even if it's sleeping.

Iceheart followed the gaze of her clanmates and spotted the fox along with them. She wondered if there were more lurking out of sight. She wasn't sure how intelligent foxes were. Were they smart enough to try and lay a trap or ambush much like they would? Or perhaps they weren't looking closely enough and there was still a chance that there were foxes lurking about, ready to leap into action as soon as one of them made a move.
Iceheart tried to take in a deep breath and her eyes carefully searched around for any sign of other dangers that would put them at a disadvantage once a fight began. She could smell the sharp stink coming from the fox that was in sight, but that made it hard to pick up if there were any other scents. Its stink was strong, but they were also quite close to it. She didn't see anything obviously hiding either as her gaze swept around the area.
In a low tone, she murmured, "I don't think there's anything else either. We should move in while it slumbers and we have the advantage."
"I can't see anything else either, but we should all stay on our guard," Leopardsun whispered, grateful for the cover of night that made their presence- she hoped- less obvious to their target. "That said... You're right, it's practical to strike while we have an advantage. I'll go first and draw its attention, then we should be able to overwhelm it as a team."
And strike she did, leaping out of the shadows with the grace only a ShadowClan cat could manage. While their sleeping target stirred, she grabbed hold of its tail; biting down with force and causing it to let out a startled yelp as it rose to its paws.
That said, the fox wasn't entirely alone: after the yelp sounded out, another dashed out of a space that must have been its den, quickly settlng its focus on Forestbreeze and delivering a forceful bite of its own.
Leopardsun used Tail Yank on Fox 1, dealing 9 (8+1) damage and costing 15 SP! Fox 1 is stunned for 1 turn! Fox 2 used Iron Bite on Forestbreeze, dealing 17 damage and costing 30 SP!
As Leopardsun pounced at the fox, Rookfire noticed its yelp for help not go unnoticed. As it ran to bite Forestbreeze, the black tuxedo realized he couldn't take it by surprise. Snarling, he attempted to rip its underside while it was distracted with his clanmate. It was a risk, but two foxes would usually be way too tough for them to beat, so they needed to take an advantage where he could find one. Frustratingly, he got himself slashed by the fox without getting a clean hit on it.
Rookfire attempted to use Belly Rake on Fox 2, costing 25 stamina. The attempt failed, meaning that Rookfire takes 5 damage.
Rookfire: HP: 35/40 SP: 75/100
Fox 2: HP: 60/60 SP: 150/180
