Reedpaw's Moonstone Journey

Today Reedpaw was to travel to the moonstone. A few of Poppyshine's kits had already become warriors, so the thought that maybe her nephew would join them soon was a refreshing one. She stopped in front of the apprentice den, calling to the tom.

"Reedpaw? You ready to go? I have your traveling herbs out here, they are bitter though."

Approaching highstones, Dovesight led the way through the tunnel she herself had traveled many times. And the familiar glowing stone was there to greet her, as it always was. "Touch your nose to it. StarClan will greet you when you awake."

Reedpaw's nose wrinkled from within the den; how was the smell so pungent..?! And tasting the herbs was somehow even more unpleasant than the aroma.. The apprentice quickly licked back some of his shoulder fur to rid the taste. His excitement, though, didn't dampen, even with the unpleasant flavour still lingering on his tongue- and he briskly followed Dovesight out of camp.

The dark passageway finally led to a small light, before exploding into a cavernful of illumination- the tall tom almost let his jaw hang at the sight. He had heard how beautiful the Moonstone was, of course, but.. seeing it in person was another thing entirely. Nervousness suddenly wringed his paws, but Reedpaw managed a few even strides toward the shining rock. Taking one last glance toward his aunt, the tabby gently placed his nose against the cool surface.

The long-tailed apprentice blinked drearily awake, flicking his an almost-absent ear to his surroundings.. Immediately, he could tell the idle chitter of mice and chirps of birds in the air was far louder than even the most prey-plentiful parts of territory. He glanced to a nearby tree- how many squirrels were just in the one plant..? Apparently remembering why he was there in the first place, Reedpaw called out onto the territory. "Hello? Anycat there..?"
