Whisperear
Whisperear pushed their way into the medicine den, one of the few dens completely shielded from outdoors. Immediately they were hit with the scent of herbs. While overwhelming to most cats, Whisperear found it comforting. It was where they went for comfort often in their youth, and now it was where his mother stayed from day to day, so they had even more reason to visit and feel at ease.
“Batsong?” they called. They hadn’t spent much time with the new apprentice Batsong had either. Perhaps they would be able to meet them while they were here.
Whisperear sat and waited for them to be finished with what they were doing. There was nothing serious—just a bad bramble stuck in their paw that they needed help with. And, hopefully, they could get some burnet from Batsong as well. Their energy has been really low lately, but burnet always helps.

Batsong was showing Birchpaw some various things at the time and her ears perked up hearing someone enter. Turning, she immediately recognized Whisperear, she had been lifelong friends with them and had done her best to look out for them and help raise them.
Ohhh Whisperear she purred happy that they had come to visit. She soon picked up just how they were walking that something was wrong. She was getting better at her medicine cat abilities. It helped that she knew Whisper very well as well.
"aww... Whisper you poor thing" she meowed quietly walking over and inspecting the paw in question.
"Oh ... It does not even look that bad we will get you fixed up right away"
Her stuttering pattern had gotten much better, Stumpytoad had been helping her with it alot and had given her lots of confidence and different ways to combat the pattern that she had for so long.
She glanced at her apprentice she should probably introduce them "oh, meet Birchpaw, my apprentice" she meowed still looking intently at the sore paw.
"hmm okay, all we have to do is carefully pull the bramble out, and apply some dock for the pad, it will prevent infection as well.
She grabbed the dock and chewed it up and put aside so it would be ready as soon as the bramble was out.
She glanced at her warrior grinning a little "ok, on three ill take it out... k?
she carefully positioned so that she could yank the bramble out with her teeth.
"one..." "two..." *YANK*
with a quick pull she pulled the barb out. There was no three. "easy" she purred very content. "if I said three you would have flinched" she purred flicking Whisprear's nose with her tail playfully. Discarding the bramble carefully (it would be very bad if a kit decided to eat it or step on it). She next applied the dock onto Whisper's paw.
and why are we using dock instead of sage root Birchpaw? she asked quietly still focused on smearing the herb on Whisper.
It was a rhetorical question more than anything else so she answered it as well, "because ... we have more of it... and it has been super wet out lately so there is more dock that needs to be used and sage root is a dry plant... but honestly either herb would have worked great for this.
she purred looking at the now healed (although kinda smeared with herb) paw.
Turning her attention back towards "her" kit, her eyes lit up "oh yes. Your burnet? You still want some I assume? she asked caring
"Birchpaw you remember burnet right? Do you think you could get some for Whisper?
(OOC: ill let aspen do the burnet so that we can both use this as a req )

A white warrior with a nasty scar across their throat entered the den, their voice soft. Birchpaw looked up from where they were sorting through herbs, letting the older cats talk for a moment before they padded over to listen in on the conversation. It seemed there was a thorn in the warrior's paw, and Birchpaw hovered around Batsong as she yanked it out. It seemed she was very good friends with this cat, and yet...Birchpaw hadn't caught their name. Batsong was saying something about sage root versus dock, and the gray tabby nodded along as they stared at the white cat with wide eyes. Between their large ears, back in the shadows of the small den, it almost seemed...like a face was there, shifting gently. When they blinked again, it was gone.
Birchpaw shook their head violently as if to clear it of cobwebs, then mewed, "Dock...grows more when it's wet, there's lots of dock, we have more to use...Makes sense. They do the same thing...right?" Eyes turned up towards their mentor, their ears pricked at the request. Burnet, burnet...used in traveling herbs... they thought, moving over to paw through the pile of herbs they had been sorting before. It took them a moment to remember what burnet actually looked like, but they managed to find a couple sprigs of it for...Whisper-something.
Padding back over, they placed the round leafy herb before the warrior and pushed it towards them with a paw. "...Hi. I'm Birchpaw, Batsong's apprentice. Nice to meet you. Um, let me know if you need any more burnet."

Whisperear
Batsong was probably right to pull the bramble out early, because Whisperear was already starting to tense up before it was even yanked out. They shook out their pelt, releasing the uneasy tension through their body now that the thorn was out. With a relaxed sigh, their attention turned to Batsong’s apprentice, and they smiled.
“Hi Birchpaw. It’s great to meet you,” they meowed. “I’m Whisperear. This should be plenty, thank you.” They leaned down to eat the herbs. The boost in energy would help with the patrols that evening. While they ate, they looked back to the apprentice and mewed, “How have you been liking the medicine den? You and Batsong seem to fit right in here.”

Batsong
Batsong was pleased with how quickly Birchpaw was learning their herbs and how naturally they took to being a medicine cat, purring she nodded. "Excellent, well done birchpaw she praised.
Turning to her warrior friend she wondered how they had been doing as well. You getting enough rest Whisperear? she asked caring for them.
"Yes things are going quite well, soon I will take Birchpaw with me to the first half moon meeting to meet with the rest of the medicine cats she looked to her appretnice excited, it would be nice to have a companion on the journey this time
