Never Hurt to Try [Ashenpaw]

This was bound to happen. Ashenpaw would need to learn how to hunt. At least ThunderClan wasn't vastly different from ShadowClan, stars forbid if they were in RiverClan trying to catch fish. She could at least try to teach here. And teach she would.

"Alright, let's see how well we can hunt here, hm? It shouldn't be all that different from ShadowClan, especially with us doing our hunting at night. The key thing to remember is while you want to stay low, you don't want you belly to actually touch the ground, because then you are disturbing all the grass and leaves as you move, and the prey knows you are there. Here, watch me."

Catching sight of a mouse, Roseburn got into the crouch before slowly creeping forward. Leaping forward, she caught the mouse in her jaws, before turning back to Ashenpaw, giving them a nod to go ahead and try.

While normally we would use ShadowClan rolls, I have confirmed with staff that while we are staying in ThunderClan, we will use those rolls instead

Ashenpaw nodded at Roseburns words, before attempting the hunting crouch. It was a little lopsided, but it was certainly better than nothing! They then sniffed the air, looking for something they could try to catch. The prey in Thunderclan and Shadowclan, while different, were similar enough to the point that if they learned how hunt here, it wouldn’t cause then to relearn when they moved back into Shadowclan, right?

Finally, Ashenpaw smelled something that smelled food-like. It was a squirrel! Sitting idly, nibbling on a nut or something of the sort. Ashenpaw fell into her lopsided crouch, careful to make sure their fur didn’t brush the ground, before darts towards the prey.

Ashenpaw attempted to catch a squirrel! Success!
