Fighting Duck [solo]

The heat of greenleaf seemed to have no problem with beating down on the moors in-between the showers that dumped onto the terrain, making it rather soggy. It left the ground a texture that was rather uncomfortable to the paws, though not entirely impossible to withstand. Mallardpaw found themselves rather comfortable in their training, and with a clear day, thoguht it would be a good time to go out and practice some type of battle skills. Their paws carried them aimlessly around the territory for some time, brown tail and head held high as they really made no sign to be quiet. After all, it wasn't like they were out hunting.

Stopping at the lone stump, there was a gentle squeaking and rustling that snapped their attention. Nibbling on some of the plants was a long, brown-colored noodle with legs. Furrowing their brow for just a moment, it perked Mallardpaw's curiosity. It hadn't been a creature he had encountered before, but perhaps it could make for a tasty snack? It looked like it had much more fight in it than a normal predator, and so the lanky apprentice recoiled back, before springing towards the creature, who responded with a rather angry squeak. Understandably so, the creature turned around in an instant, going to hold onto the back leg of the unfortunate apprentice that had decided to scuffle with it.

Hissing from the pain that came from their back leg, Mallardpaw's instincts seemed to fully kick in. Reaching between their legs, their teeth went straight for the weasel, grabbing the midsection of its otherwise wiggly body. It seemed keen to hold on, only further sinking its teeth into the apprentice's leg, despite the urge that Mallardpaw had to bunnykick at it. Something told them that'd only make things worse.

As Mallardpaw kept their grip on its lower body, they could feel the weasel slowly stop biting so hard. It only made their bite harder, eventually making the creature shriek as they yanked it away. Of course, doing that seemed to only make things hurt more, and the apprentice themselves wanted to scream from the pain. That scream instead went into the bite, sinking deep, deep down onto the weasel. To their surprise, the creature simply went limp in their jaws, stunning Mallardpaw into dropping it onto the ground. Of course, that meant weight going to that back leg, and stars did it hurt as they hopped around with frustration. Exhaustion also filled their lithe frame, and hopefully, Whisperear would be proud of them - after they got their leg bandaged up by Batsong.
