Finally, it seemed her boys were ready to grow. It was a bit of an amusing point to the mother, but nevertheless, she knew each of them were ready at their own pace. Nuzzling the top of the dilute calico's head, she ushered her son to follow her towards the Highrock. "It's time, my little Twilight." She beamed with pride, giving him one last little nuzzle before heading to the signature place they all met. Leaping to her place, Mottlerose called out. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the highrock for a Clan meeting!"

All good things come with time, or at least, that was the philosophy he found he was quickly picking up as he aged. Don't rush. Get that last wink of sleep until the dawn rises. True to that, Twilightkit took his time getting up in the morning, insisting to his mother than he was a big warrior in the making now and hthat he could prove himself perfectly capable of grooming his own pelt, thank you. And to his credit, the Tom's appearance was near flawless, and his warm eyes were brimming with quiet excitement as the clan's deputy called forth the clan meeting. He went up front, expectantly.

She had let the little tom indulge in his desire to groom his own pelt, honestly having been proud of the work he had accomplished in making it neat and smooth. After all, they were growing up, and letting themselves do things such as that were harmless. It wasn't as if he could really hurt himself badly grooming his own pelt, after all. Nevertheless, as he was in the crowd and the others gathered, Mottlerose grinned. "Twilightkit, you've reached the age of six moons old and it is time for you to be an apprentice. Until you receive your warrior name, may you be known as Twilightpaw. Comfreyheart will be your mentor, and I know her compassion and skills will pass onto you well." The deputy had been so excited to pass one of her kits onto Comfreyheart, as the warrior was much like another daughter of hers. Dismissing the clan, Mottlerose lept off the highrock, going to celebrate with her son.

Highrock

The kittens had been becoming apprentices one by one,
and Comfreyheart was glad to see it. Mottlerose’s litter were growing up, learning skills to protect their clan and exploring the territory. It was an exciting time, but a dangerous one. I’ll have to keep an eye on them, make sure they stay safe.

She attended Twilightkit’s ceremony eagerly, excited to congratulate the tom-kit when he had received his new name. And to congratulate the mentor who was tasked with job of raising their future warriors. But quietly Comfreyheart hoped she would be his mentor. After Foxglare had become a warrior she’d been wanting to train another young one, and there was no other apprentice she’d want to guide than one of Mottlerose’s kittens.

And so, she was more than glad when her wish became true. With a bright smile she padded over to her new apprentice. “Hello there Twilightpaw,” she mewed before touching her nose to the tom, “Excited? I know I am.”

❒ A fond look crossed her eyes as she watched the first of her brothers receive his mentor. It was Twilightkit's special day and as promised, Briarpaw would always be there to celebrate with her siblings. Only one sibling after Twilight was left before all her littermates would officially be apprentices.

❒ The dilute tortoiseshell smiled and arose from the place she had been sitting and slowly made her way over to the new apprentice as soon as the ceremony came to an end. She paused to allow the new mento-apprentice duo to touch noses and speak before closing the distance. "Twilightpaw," she greeted, "Congratulations on becoming an apprentice. You have a nest saved for you near the rest of us if you would like to take it." She nudged his shoulder with hers. "I hope we can get to train with each other, brother." She pulled away and dipped her head at Comfreyheart before walking away to allow the others to speak with Twilightpaw.
