With all the recent storms and high winds, patrols had been dispatched to take in the state of the territory. Hanging limbs needed removal from trees, roots needed to be inspected as the rain and wind shifted rocky soil - sometimes dangerously so, and Wolfblossom had found herself taking in the state of things around the moonlit creek. As she neared it, the usually soft murmur of the water was much, much louder than normal. Wolfblossom continued forward, and the sudden unexpectedness of water splashing over her paws made her look down with wide eyes. The creek was higher than she'd ever seen it, no wonder she'd hit water despite being several tail lengths from the usual shallow creekbed. With a huff, Wolfblossom took a few steps back, shaking out her paw and eyeing the water droplets in dismay. Turning, she began to slowly make her way along the creek. Better to assess what this was doing to the territory now, though Wolfblossom was deeply unappreciative of the wet ground underpaw. It had stopped raining at least, but the air was still humid and very little of the forest was actually dry. It made her fur prickle in discomfort, and upon the sudden, foul intrusion of Shadowclan's scent in her nose, Wolfblossom's fought to keep an annoyed snarl off of her face. "Great Starclan, foxes smell better than this." She grumbled under her breathe.

Crowspirit
Crowspirit had just newly become a warrior, and yet, the first experience of it was... surprising, to say the least. A flood — ShadowClan getting separated — having to stay on another clan's territory... How scary it was. Fortunately, not everyone was away. She wouldn't know what she would do if she was alone! Deciding to take a walkout, she strolled through SkyClan's territory, taking in each rare sight as an opportunity of being in another place. Watching as the creek had such alarming heights of water, she made sure to keep her distance. Who knew SkyClan would've had something like this? She could only imagine RiverClan as so.
However, distracted by a small murmur and rising scent of SkyClan, she had turned to face who was approaching. They have seemed to be a somewhat more experienced warrior, with.. unfortunately, a distaste for her clan's unexpected visit. It was understandable. "Sorry, we can't help it." She would mutter, offering an awkward, yet embarrassed smile. "Your territory is much different than the familiar marshes of ours. It's wonderful, though!"

Well, Wolfblossom hadn't meant to be overheard. Her ears flattened, the tips feeling like they could've been set on fire by the power of her embarrassment. "I-" She stammered weakly, "Sorry. I uh... Didn't-" Foxdung, she had meant it, but it had been rude. And she hadn't meant for the Shadowclanner to overhear. Wolfblossom focused on her paws for a moment as she struggled to regain her composure, a low huff escaping her as her bright gaze lifted to stare at the overflowing creek, then the Shadowclanner.
"Sorry." She muttered again after a moment, shaking her head. "Wonderful?" She scoffed, "More like halfway flooded and soon to have weakened branches everywhere." Hopefully they wouldn't face the sort of flooding that Shadowclan had. The prospect of being swept off of Skyclan territory into some unknown place was truly terrifying, Wolfblossom couldn't imagine any of the Shadowclanners were comfortable with the circumstances either.
"My name's Wolfblossom." She introduced herself, very much still feeling the awkwardness of having been caught complaining about a Shadowclanner to their face.

Crowspirit shook her head. Maybe the comment she said wasn't supposed to be heard. The molly seemed anxious about it. "Too false? Sorry... I only meant it in a positive way. It's not like we ever were supposed to be on another clan's territory." It was true — she wouldn't have seen any of this at all, if not for the flood. But then again, it made everyone ill and injured. "Not like we had a choice, unfortunately... The flood swept most of us here. I hope the others are alright."
"I'm Crowspirit. Your name sounds pretty, Wolfblossom." She introduced herself, hoping to at least make things a bit less awkward.

"No, it's alright." Wolfblossom bowed her head in acquiesce. The she-cat, it seemed, was willing to overlook her rudeness and continue a conversation. Wolfblossom found that she wasn't as ungrateful for it as she might've been. For now at least, the Shadowclanners that were here were guests, and perhaps she didn't need to make them uncomfortable when their experience on Skyclan territory after such a harrowing ordeal was likely to stick with them. "I can't imagine it's easy for you to be here, not knowing about the rest of your clanmates. I hope they're okay." And that much was true. They weren't Skyclan, but she hadn't wished ill upon any of Shadowclan's ranks. And there was little reason to take out her annoyance with an overcrowded territory on the newly-introduced Crowspirit. "It's.. Nice to meet you, Crowspirit."

"It's definitely not easy. But we don't have anywhere else to go, for now. I do hope we can return home soon enough." She frowned. "The flood was really unexpected. It had been raining harshly for the past few days, but we didn't think it would ever be so bad." StarClan... truly could've given them at least a warning, couldn't they? The ways of the Stars truly were mysterious.
"It's nice to meet you too." Pausing for a moment, Crowspirit sniffed the air, eyes glancing around. However, she was observing. "Were you on a lone patrol? I don't see the others."

On that it seemed, the two she-cats were in agreement. "I never expected such heavy rains as this. It's definitely made things difficult." Prey didn't like the rain any more than Wolfblossom did, and the way the humidity clung to her fur was uncomfortable at best. She had to wonder about Fogpaw and Plumpaw as well, how would the medicine cats get herbs if they were washed away by the strong rains and gusts of wind? The creek was overflowing, though Wolfblossom was certain that Skyclan territory hadn't been affected nearly as much as Shadowclan had been. "I came out alone, wanted to get away from the noise in camp for a bit. And to check on the territory. If this keeps up, hunting in the trees is going to be problematic. I've never seen the creek this high either. Even the small gullies are filled with rainwater." Her gaze returned to the rushing water below for a moment, and she shook her head.
"What's Shadowclan territory like?" She was curious, she had to admit. Wolfblossom had heard their territory was mostly marsh, but the border had seldom been a place she frequented to see even the edge of it. Surely though, the Shadowclanners were much more used to wet paws than she was.

"We're all facing similar threats, then. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope SkyClan will be alright, too." So the creek hasn't always been so overfilled with water, or so high. Its current state surely was worrying. "Hm? Our territory?" Having an interest in her own lands, Crowspirit was rather glad to answer. "It must be obvious how the majority of it is marshland. It's grassy, and the grounds always are slicked with mud. If you're not careful, you might reach the Deep Marshes. It's dangerous if you ever get lost." Her fur simply bristled at the thought of sinking in — though, with the knowledge to generally avoid that place, she knew how to keep herself safe, either way.
"However, not our entire territory are just marshlands, though. There's The Pine Grove. The strong smell of large monsters still lay there. Sometimes even twolegs! But of course, we know when to avoid them."

"The forest will survive, I'm sure." Wolfblossom nodded. If the clans could survive the stories she'd grown up on, surely they would all get through these awful rains, right? Shadowclan's territory wouldn't stay flooded forever, nor would the moonlit creek.
"I've only seen it from the border a time or two. It sounds very different from ours." She mewed, "Twolegs... They hang around the fence, sometimes you see them walking their dogs." The warrior shook her head in disgust, "A shame they don't care to stay off of clan territory. All they do is scare off prey."

"Do they? I wonder how twolegs are able to control such canines... They truly are a mystery." Quite frankly, they always have been, since the start of the clans. Have they always been there? That was a mystery on its own, too. Crowspirit gave a small, nervous laugh. "It's unfortunate that they're so uncareful. Both in scent and actions. I find them to be pretty interesting."
The she-cat would ponder for a moment. "I don't mean to keep you for too long on the topic, but have you wondered how they're able to balance themselves on two legs? It's such a mystery." Personally, she wouldn't see any cat, especially herself, able to do so at all.

"I don't know, they're certainly a strange sight. We just try and stay away from them and hope they don't cause too much trouble." She'd never fought a dog before, but she'd heard stories of the trouble both they and their twoleg masters were as a kit in the nursery. "I don't know, I can't imagine any cat being able to balance like that. They're curious creatures, aren't they? And they only seem to have fur on the top of their heads. They wear those weird, brightly colored pelts, but surely that can't be enough to keep them warm in leafbare, right?"

"I've caught glimpses of them in leaf-bare before. Sometimes, their pelt changes on the season! They even wear raccoon pelts, or sometimes, even similar to ours!" She felt a chill run up her spine at the mention. "It's so creepy... Do they really use our pelts for that reason?" Crowspirit shook her head, unable to understand the hair-less twolegs. They change pelts so often, that she doesn't even know how they do that.
"Fur on top of their heads, but not anywhere else... Imagine how freaky that would be." The she-cat imagined a hairless cat with just fur on their head. "Real strange."
Subject: Re: Crow Wings and Wolf Fangs [Crowspirit] Sun Aug 21, 2022 1:42 pm
"It really is. I've never seen anything else that does that with their pelts." Were they even the twoleg's pelts? Or just the pelts on some poor creatures they had killed? Surely no creature could change their own pelt so quickly. "Yeah, I can't imagine how they don't freeze to death in leafbare with no fur. Some of their pelts don't seem like they would be particularly warm, either."
