Bark At the Moon [Moonlily]

It was hot and humid out, and the sun beat down from overhead with a vengeance. Wolfblossom grumbled at she padded through the rocky landscape. If she had to be out of camp doing things, she'd decided, she would try and spend her time around the creek. The prey seemed to like the water, not that she could blame any creature for in this oppressive, miserable heat.

Even the air was uncomfortable still, and Wolfblossom dipped her head. Even the water wasn't that cold or refreshing. "Ugh!" She muttered. Turning, Wolfblossom began to follow the creek downstream, ears pricked as she scanned the area for signs of movement.

The creek was a source of comfort for the newly-named warrior. There was so much to SkyClan territory that, even though stepping paw in camp was a struggle she was overcoming, she still could find little places here or there that became like a camp to her. Granted, most of the time, she simply stayed just beyond, guarding.

Greenleaf bore little mercy when it came to the forest, it seemed. With her thick, fluffy fur, it was a shock that she wasn't practically melting. Granted, Moonlily had to admit that she certainly felt as if she was roasting inside her own pelt sometimes. As such, she'd made it a point to walk in the lower parts of the water when she could. While it wasn't exactly cool, keeping her paws wet at least saved them from stepping on any extra-hot stones that may have embedded themselves into the forest floor. Her ears perked as the sounds of a distant clanmate seemed to echo. Or, at the very least, who she hoped was a distant clanmate.

Scenting the air confirmed her hopes, and soon enough, the young warrior was face-to-face with another warrior of Skyclan. Moonlily struggled slightly with names, but she recognized her fur - it was one of Beechfang and Dovefrost's kits. Part of her stomach gnarled at the thought of Beechfang, and all of the chaos that her situation had caused... but it was out of her paws. That much she had come to terms with. Besides, it wasn't like Wolfblossom was guaranteed to carry on the type of personality or acts her mother had. If anything... she supposed Wolfblossom had something to mourn too. The exile of her mother was bound to be difficult, not to mention how it would've shattered Dovefrost...

Shaking her head, the warrior figured she'd at least say something. "Hey there, Wolfblossom..!" Her voice had slowed just a bit in saying the other molly's name, as if it took a moment to fully pop into her memory. With another clanmate alongside her, she figured they probably could do something productive. "Out hunting?"

"Ah, hi Moonlily," Wolfblossom greeted the other newly-named warrior with a half smile. "Well, kinda. Right now I'm envying our shorter-furred clanmates." Not that there were many of those, Wolfblossom realized. Sometimes it seemed like Ravenclaw and Yewfrost were the only ones who weren't perpetually suffering in the greenleaf weather. "What about you?" She hadn't seen Moonlily so much as enter camp since her warrior ceremony, and as such her interactions with her fellow warrior had been somewhat limited.

The warrior presumed she'd gotten the other molly's name correct given the lack of a correction, and she could only let out a small giggle at the idea of members of Skyclan not being nearly as long-furred as they were. "Oh, same." Thankfully, the she-cat had yet to really grow much of her thicker, winter fluff at all, so there weren't any remnants to torture and further insulate her. Not that she needed it. At all. If anything, the extra fur on her ears only somehow made them burn warm, even when she wasn't embarrassed by anything.

"Oh, just kind of roaming. Thought about going on a bit of a hunt, might as well make my roaming useful, right?" She chimed, her tail rippling behind her as she spoke.

Wolfblossom grinned at the idea of hunting. "Better than me wandering about and complaining." She agreed, "Let's go, then. I doubt prey want to be out of their dens any more than we do, but they'll be attracted here just as we are." With that she turned, bright blue eyes lifting to scan the trees above for movement. There were several birds, and the fluffy she-cat made her way toward one of the nearby trees, paws light despite her large frame.

Moonlily gave a nod. Certainly, the birds would be hiding in shaded places, searching for a source of cold much like the both of them were. She went the opposite direction than Wolfblossom, not wanting to disturb any prey she may seek to find, and also so that Wolfblossom wouldn't unintentionally disturb any of hers. "We can keep any prey we catch by this rock over here, yeah?" She called as she had left the stream, the rather large boulder having a good nested spot at its base to serve for storage.

Once she got Wolfblossom's answer, the molly padded just a bit further away from the stream, letting her instinctive senses take over in locating prey. It was the song of a bird that caught her attention, her ear flicking towards it to make sure she knew exactly where the sound was coming from before turning to spot it. It was a robin, calling out as it hopped among the forest floor. Its call served as the perfect distraction to her intentions, allowing the molly to easily come up behind it. A swift hop of her own, and the birds life was taken, now being carried in her maw to the place that she'd pointed out earlier. She put it down, proud of her catch, and looked around to see if she could spot Wolfblossom and how her hunting was going.

With a nod to Moonlily, Wolfblossom scampered somewhat inelegantly up one of the nearby trees. A finch was perched in an adjacent tree, and the pale she-cat carefully stuck to the side of the tree that blocked her from view as she scaled the branches. Up here there was a little bit of a breeze, which made it better than being on the forest floor, but that breeze could just as easily change direction.

Fortunately, it didn't this time, and Wolfblossom landed on the last branch with one paw catching the bird's wing as it readied itself to fly off. She pulled it toward her, quickly nipping at the fragile neck. The bird had struggled, but it was no match for a Skyclan warrior. Wolfblossom made her way back to the forest floor, catch dangling from her jaws.

Moonlily gave a solid nod towards Wolfblossom as she returned, seeing the bird in the other molly's jaws. It seemed they'd have a successful hunt, for sure. Her paws carried her off in the direction of the scent of another animal, this time a squirrel. The chittering of the creature could be heard from as far away as she was, and her long tail rippled in anticipation. As she'd go to strike, however, there was the sound of a sharp screech that hurt her eats.

Her gaze snapped to the sky in time to see talons diving for the exact same piece of prey she was after. Though, the hiss that left her maw instinctively turned the eagle's attention onto her. She did her best to roll out of the way, only to find the talons piercing into her shoulder, causing a yowl of pain to come from the young molly. "Fox-dung!"

With a nod to Moonlily, Wolfblossom turned away in search of more prey. The loud screech of an eagle was quick to pull Wolfblossom out of these pursuits, and she whirled, practically sprinting in the direction it had come from. Her tail lashed as she saw the blood on Moonlily's pelt.

"Get away from her!" She hissed, claws digging furiously into the eagle's wings.

The talons that had pierced into her hurt. They hurt quite a bit more than she had been prepared for, and the blood seeping from her new wounds only confirmed just how well the flighted predator had managed to snag her. Its angry shriek didn't help her ears either, which seemed keen to remain pinned against her head to save them from being ruined by how loud the bird was. Still, there was a deep sense of relief that Wolfblossom was there to help her fight the eagle.

Her teeth sought for something to grip onto, and the first thing they managed to latch was near the base of the eagle's body, at its tail feathers. Giving a sharp yank, she managed to fling the eagle against the ground. Combined with Wolfblossom's claws, it surely had to hurt. It seemed to do the trick too, as yet another loud squawk came from the bird, but it seemed dissheveled for the moment.


Moonlily used Tail Yank, costing 15 SP and dealing 7 damage. The Eagle is stunned for one turn!

Moonlily was bleeding, though Wolfblossom couldn't ascertain how badly she was hurt and was no medicine cat to have a care about healing, anyways. She could only assume that her clanmate wasn't hurt too badly as she yanked the obnoxiously-loud bird off-balance by the tail feathers. Seizing the opportunity, Wolfblossom sank her fangs into the base of a wing. Hindering its' ability to fly would make it much harder for the eagle to do anything, she hoped.

All Moonlily wanted to do was attack the bird, all Moonlily could keep doing was attack the bird. Angered claws continued their assault, even as another cry left both the she-cat and the eagle. Its talons found her body yet again, and her claws could only continue to keep digging.

Moonlily continued her attack as the eagle seemed to regain balance, and Wolfblossom continued hers as well. The more they bled the bird, the less it could focus on attacking them in turn. Maybe if they killed it, they could bring it back to camp for the fresh kill pile.
