A Sleepy Good Luck Wish [closed]

Poppyshine

Poppyshine had spent a lot of time in the nursery lately. She would have spent even more time there if she didn’t have her deputy and warrior duties to attend to—but she was sleeping less to give herself more time to complete all of her duties and help Maplespring with the kits too. She wasn’t losing that much sleep, as there were too many cats looking out for her health to allow that But she was grateful for the extra couple of hours to get more things done.

“Sleepykit, Sootkit,” she greeted as she approached the nursery. “It’s great to see you both out and about.” After so long with them being little whining kits for milk, it was great seeing them starting to grow into their own personalities. She was still a tad worried about Sleepykit, though—she was tired all of the time, even as she grew and was supposed to start getting the eager energy of a growing cat. Poppyhine wondered if something was wrong, but that was something to talk to Dovesight and Maplespring or Owlshriek about. “I see you’ve found a ladybug, Sleepykit.”

Poppyshine chuckled at Sootkit’s protectiveness of his sister. “They don’t bite,” she promised. “Ladybugs look for flowers. She might have thought that your nose was one. Just shake your head and she’ll fly off.” She couldn’t help but think about how cute Maplespring’s kits are. It made her excited for her own kits, whenever they arrived.

Sleepypaw

Sleepykit sent a grateful look towards Sootkit. Then, her green eyes flashed towards Poppyshine, admiring her confidence in knowledge. Trusting the deputy, Sleepykit shook her head quickly. The tiny beetle took off, earning a tiny squeak from the kitten as it buzzed around her head for a short moment. Then, as if it never existed, it vanished behind the brambles around the camp. Blinking in its direction, she watched it until it vanished behind the warm green walls. Then, she turned back towards the other two cats, her green eyes that had been wide slowly sunk back to the half-lidded, tired gaze. The adrenaline seeped out of her, and the kitten, hunched, fought a large yawn. "That was spooky." She admitted a moment later, scrunching her nose to try and lose the feeling of the beetle crawling up her face. "But, it was really bright red!" Despite her normal calm demeanor, she seemed delighted to have seen such a creature.

Turning towards Poppyshine, Sleepypaw tilted her head. "When are you having the kittens?" She would have mentioned being excited to play with them, but she had no energy to commit herself to that when she could be taking a nice nap in the sun.

Poppyshine looked to Sootpaw and nodded. She smiled at both of the apprentices, not seeming bothered by the question. “I’m going to be having kits really soon. And once they’re born, I’m sure that they’ll be running around and causing havoc like you two did.” She scrunched her nose playfully. Neither of them were troublemakers as kits. “You both will have to make sure that you look after them. They’ll need talented apprentices to show them how to behave.”
