Willowkit's Apprentice Ceremony

How the time has gone. His sister's kits were already ready to be apprenticed. It was a surprise to him that she spent what seemed like an eternity, pregnant, and just like that her little rascals were already grown. Nightstalker was quite excited about this batch of kittens. Padding his way over to the Jaggedrock, he crouched and pounced onto it. It was a good season for them to learn as well before the heat truly came and dried their mud. "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!"

willowkit stepped into the center of the camp, his body relaxed and his yellow eyes starring unnervingly at the deputy. the small tom looked almost identical to his late father, ratrunner, save for the cold gaze.

Once enough cats had gathered, Nightstalker started his announcements. He hoped that the decision that he had made, would be a good fit for the both of them.

"Willowkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Willowpaw. Your mentor will be Leopardsun. I hope Leopardsun will pass down all she knows on to you."

"Leopardsun, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You are an excellent warrior and you have shown yourself to be dependable and passionate. You will be the mentor of Willowpaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Willowpaw."

Leopardsun had sat to watch the ceremony, as she often did- she'd spent much of her warriorhood so far in and around the nursery, and watching the kits be apprenticed was always a joyous occasion. This, though, was the first time she'd heard her own name called as a mentor.

Dependable. True, she fulfilled her duties- often doing her very best to go above and beyond- but was she dependable enough to train an apprentice? It seemed that they would soon find out. Dutifully, she stepped forward to touch noses with her new apprentice, ignoring her racing thoughts. "Well, Willowpaw... I'll do my best to teach you everything I know."

Willowpaw swept his gaze over the crowd of cats until his unnerving yellow eyes landed on a familiar grey tabby pelt. as Leopardsun stepped forward to touch noses with his, he stretched his neck to meet hers. "I can't wait," he replied, though he showed no sign of impatience or excitement.
