The newleaf sun shone down through the forest canopy, casting dappled shadows over the ground below. Cherrycloud strolled through the forest at the head of the patrol. She had been assigned to lead the sunhigh border patrol. All seemed to be going well...until the overpowering stench of badger washed over her. "Watch out everyone, there might be a badger around here," she warned her patrolmates. It was her duty as a warrior to keep the clan safe, so she plodded on, more carefully this time. There were two apprentices with her, and she didn't want them to be badly injured.

A crashing sound alerted Cherrycloud to the badger, and she gestured to the others with a flick of her tail. The lumbering beast hadn't noticed her yet, so she lunged at it. Her claws rake at its side. She was smacked with one of its massive paws and flung to the side. A gash opened on her shoulder, bloodying the surrounding fur.

Cherrycloud used Jumping Strike, dealing 11 (8+3) damage and costing 7 SP! Badger used Heavy Blow, dealing 17 damage and costing 22 SP!

It felt good to be out in the forest. Beetlepaw padded along behind Cherrycloud, enjoying the warmth of the sun on her back. After she'd stupidly gotten caught sneaking Shadekit out of camp, Beetlepaw thought she'd be confined to the apprentice den until she was an elder. Thankfully, that didn't seem to be the case. Her enjoyment was cut short as a powerful stench washed over her, nearly choking her with its potency. Up ahead, Cherrycloud helpfully informed them that there may be a badger nearby as if the smell alone wouldn't alert every creature from here to fourtrees. Just as Beetlepaw opened her mouth to make a snarky comment, the badger in question came plodding through the undergrowth, with no regard for stealth or the prey it was likely to be scaring away.

Dunghead... Beetlepaw thought to herself with a roll of her eyes, before hurling herself into battle beside Lilystorm. She slashed at the badger's exposed hind-leg, eyes gleaming in satisfaction when she felt fur rip beneath her claws.

Flurrypaw was in a rather pleasant mood, trailing behind her mother on the hunting patrol. She was learning to engage with her clanmates more than usually did (which was not a lot) and felt proud of herself. A rare grin developed on her maw when she noticed how happy Clouddream seemed to be feeling, but it was interrupted with a warning from Cherrycloud. A badger?! The fur on her back started to fluff up and bristle.

As if on cue, a badger came crashing through the undergrowth, its stench filling the air. She involuntarily sneezed, nose twitching. Not the time... Cherrycloud had taken a blow and both Beetlepaw and Clouddream had lunged. Joining in, Flurrypaw gave a fearsome yowl. Claws met fur, blood welling up where she had raked. Take that, you lumbering monster!

Her other patrolmates joined in the fight holding off the badger long enough for her to get up. She rushed back towards the battle and was met with snapping jaws. The badger grabbed one of her forelegs and sunk its teeth in. Panic flashed in Cherrycloud's eyes as she desperately tried to pull it away. She struck out her other free paw, slashing at its eyes. The attack loosened its grip enough for her to rip her leg away. She stood a little way off, her leg held in a limp.
