A Hawk, A Coyote, and a Bat [c]

With the Dark Forest behind them, Coyotegrin focused on hunting and improving her skills. Trying to focus on the task at hand, and not Hawkheart, Coyotegrin looked over to her current companion, Batsong. She hoped to take this opportunity to get to know them a little better. They were a sma clan, and connections were vital to their survival. "So, Batsong," she said carefully, remembering their reaction to Whisperpaw in the medicine den. "Are you and my apprentice, Whisperpaw, close?" She wasn't jealous, not at all. She was very happy Whisperpaw was making a name for themselves in the clan. She viewed the apprentice almost as her own child, and was guilty she didn't spend as much time with them as she would have liked. After this whole ordeal, Coyotegrin was currently moving on to figuring out the politics and connections of the clan. It was always good to know.

Batsong walked along quietly with her companion. She was a reserved cat for the most part and didnt usually talk and when she did it was always with a heavy stutter.


Coyotegrin asked about whisperpaw and she gave a short happy nod. "Y-yes.. Wh-whisperpaw and I have been g-good f-f-friends for along time" she answered. It was true, the two of them had gotten along well since Whisperkit was a young kit in the nursery. Batsong looked out for them best she could since Whisperpaw had lost their parents and Batsong knew all too well what that was like. In some ways she as well saw herself as trying to parent Whisperpaw although she would never say that directly. She certainly was overprotective of the apprentice whether she would admit it or not.

"Th-they are... very close to me" she said slowly. "Getting to k-know others has n-never been easy for me" she murrmored as they walked along. "You h-have done a good job training them" Batsong praised her hunting partner.

Coyotegrin kept his eye focused straight ahead to avoid giving any emotion away to Batsong, even if it was only a glimmer of emotion for a brief second. Swallowing hard she nodded and purred with a flick of her tail. "Thank you. They are an excellent apprentice. I've been looking over them since they were a kit." Her paws padded silently on the grass, her ears perked for any sound of prey. A loud flapping sound caught her attention, and she slowed her pace to slowly inch forward to peer down a ridge. Below the ridge, towards the bottom, a hawk was slowly tearing apart a rabbit and chowing down. As Batsong joined her, she glanced over. Silently, she motioned towards the hawk with her head, asking if they should go after it.

Batsong stayed quiet not really sure what else to say the shy cat walked alont with her partner looking for any food or the like.

As Coyotegrin pointed out the predator, Batsong glanced at the hawk and gave a nod to Coyotegrin. Yeah lets go for this. It would not be great if the hawk got away and managed to pick off windclan kits that were easy targets.

hmm they could take this out right? It seemed really busy with its meal and hadnt seen them creep up on it.

Batsong took out into a sprint and Coyotegrin was right behind. She launched herself onto the hawk's back, digging her teeth in. She swiped with her paws, scraping the hawk's side.

Coyotegrin used Snap for 7 SP and causing 8 damage. Coyotegrin used Swiftstrike for 10 SP and causing 5 damage.

The hawk was just enjoying it's catch, participating in the circle of life as an innocent predator. All of the sudden, he was attacked! With a shriek, he slashed his talons at the black creature that attacked him first.

Hawk used Talon Strike for 10 SP and causing 7 damage.

Batsong hissed mildly annoyed at the hawk, the talons stung a little bit but it was nothing close to the Dark Forest battle she had recently and with Coytegrin by her side she knew this match would be decided very quickly.

She struck out at the oversized bird again and smacked at it. No windclan kits for this angry birdie.

The hawk grew week under her, struggling to fight off Coyotegrin and Batsong. Coyotegrin latched onto it's neck, biting through the thick feathers of the hawk. The taste of blood hit her tongue and the hawk thrashed wildly. Refusing to let go, her jaws clamped stronger. Finally, the hawk went limp and thudded to the ground. Only then did Coyotegrin release the hawk and stepped aside, panting. "Are you alright? Did the talons do damage?" The warrior looked over her battle companion and noted a few slashes, but nothing too bad. With a nod, almost to herself, she looked at the body of the hawk. "Poor thing just wanted a meal. But I'm sure Whisperpaw would welcome the feathers for their nest. I should give one to Hawkheart too, just as  a little warning." She smirked at the thought of presenting the large tom with a feather from the creature of his name. It was ironic, and hilarious.

Coyotegrin used snap for 7 Sp and causing 8 damage. Hawk is KO'd.
