Herb Collecting [stoatstar, cherrycloud]

As Dovefrost has suggested, she too knew that they were starting to get low on herbs. She needed to find more supplies for the den — and quickly, in case of an emergency of some sort. Even if it wasn't so urgent now. It was around early afternoon, the sunlight still warm, yet somewhat faint on her back as she exited out of the medicine den. Normally, she'd go alone or with Dovefrost, but he was busy now. And... she wanted to have a change of pace. Somewhat, at least.

Spotting Stoatstar and Cherrycloud not too far by, she took in a deep breath — gathering enough courage to approach them. "Hello, Stoatstar, Cherrycloud. The medicine den's running out of herbs, and I thought you both might want to come along... Do you?" She'd offer them each a small dip of the head, smiling, and waiting for their replies.

Cherrycloud was idling around camp, with nothing left to do with the day. She was sitting with Stoatstar, though not talking to him. Fawnshine approached both of them and invited them to go herb hunting. "Sure," she meowed. Cherrycloud quite enjoyed collecting herbs. It was like similar to when she went out to get items. It also helped her to figure out which flowers she shouldn't take. Come to think of it, she hadn't been able to go and add items to her collection. She only had a few flowers woven into her fur.

Stoatstar was enjoying the silence that stretched between him and Cherrycloud. It was nice to not feel pressured by conversation and expectations. The tom's ruffled pelt stood up in several places. His eyes were dull and his reaction unusually slow. Having had his chin resting gingerly on top of his paws, the leader raised his head slowly to face Fawnshine, "Hm? Sure." Although surprised, the little tom found himself with a prickle of guilt somewhere deep in his belly as he looked at the medicine cat, "Lead the way, Fawnshine."

The two agreed, and Fawnshine found herself exhaling out a small, quiet sigh of relief. They weren't busy either, that was a good thing. With a nod, she'd turn, walking towards the direction of the camp's entrance.

Occasionally, the she-cat would glance back, making sure her clanmates were still able to follow behind. After a while of walking, the medicine cat stopped, her eyes scanning — and her nose sniffing, just to make sure that this was the right place. With another smile, she turned to face them again, briefly explaining things over. "You probably know about the basic herbs like daisy leaves, dandelions, marigold, or poppy seeds — but if there's anything you're unsure of, please tell me! I should be able to recognize it," She paused, "We're a bit low on chervil — a plant with large leafy fern-like leaves with white flowers; coltsfoot — a plant with yellow or white flowers;  and goldenrod — a tall plant with small yellow flowers, but anything else would also be helpful."

With a flick of her tail, she began to search for the needed herbs. Among the surface of a medium-sized rock, her whiskers twitched, and Fawnshine soon found some chervil hidden in between its crevices. She'd gently pull the herb out, showing an example of one of the herbs they needed more of. "This is chervil," The molly purred, allowing a moment of observation — before turning around again, attempting to find more.

Cherrycloud's paws tread lightly as she trailed after Fawnshine, glad to have something to do. Fawnshine eventually stopped and explained the herbs they needed to gather, before heading off on her own. Cherrycloud went a different direction and began to search. She looked around, admiring the beauty of the blooming growth. A few flowers swayed in the gentle breeze, and she realized that she was pretty sure seen them in the medicine den before. Cherrycloud dipped down and carefully bit the stems. She carried back the small yellow and white flowers to see if Fawnshine knew what they were.

Admittedly, Stoatstar was rather familiar with herbs, perhaps more so than he should have been. Such knowledge had enticed him from a young age and he had learned what he could. But his paws were far from practiced and his gaze certainly not sharp. His mind had been rather unfocused for sometime. Exhaustion kept his eyelids from staying open for too long. Thankfully, the light of the bright sun overhead prevented him from nodding off too easily. Not like he would have found any amount of restful sleep anyways.

He nodded as Fawnshine explain. The list of herbs had already begun to slip from his mind. Stoatstar despised how dull he'd become lately. As the medicine cat pulled away, he followed suit. His maw parted slightly in an effort to scent out the plants. It seemed that not everything had slipped from his mind over the past few moons. Finding it so quickly caused the faintest smile of satisfaction to flit across his maw. Coltsfoot. Given his paws were far from practiced at gathering such a thing, he turned and trotted back to Fawnshine, "I found some coltsfoot over here." Whisking his tail, the little leader turned to show her the way.

Leading her felt like a kit wanting to show off a catch, although there was no excitement in his steps, only a cool sense of duty. Once stopping, his nose tipped downward to point at it, "Seems to be decent enough, right?"
