A promise of freedom had been made to the Clans, the shades of lost loved ones offering them freedom from their torment. The entire forest seemed to bristle against the news; even though the prophecy was held in secrecy, passed only in whispers, every creature could sense the impending change. Bitterly, sacrifices had been chosen to usher in the return of their ancestors; and such martyrs were now stationed at the mouth of camp. Under the light of the full moon, everything was bright and silent.
Suddenly, as the moon neared its peak, the sky erupted in a flash. Seeming to rise out of Highstones itself, streaks of light tore across the night sky, shooting over the territories in a glorious blaze. And in that wake, stars started to fill the sky: slowly, at first, and then all at once the blanket of darkness the Clans had grown used to was dotted with pinpricks of light.
StarClan was returning. There would be pain no longer.
There will be a little bit of time for the clans to interact one last time with those chosen to be sacrifices before the fighting begins.
StarClan is not here yet, nor are the stars back yet. Additionally, unless your cat was told, they do not yet know about the sacrifices.
Once the fighting begins Medicine Cats with the appropriate rank will give their allies a Defending Buff. Please keep that in mind once the fighting starts!

The full moon in the dark sky above brought Brackenwing no comfort, just a deep sense of dread. After what had happened the last full moon, she had little desire to see what might happen this go around. The dark forest still prowled around camp as if they owned it, and Swiftspirit and Mistysky were still dead. Occasionally, Brackenwing would see their shades around camp, unable to speak or be spoken to, and her stomach would twist.
If the stars were even real, it would sure be nice if they could do something about the dark forest. Brackenwing sure didn't think it was possible to get out from under their claws, now.

Blazepaw wasn’t herself tonight. She lay in the apprentice den, practically unmoving. Everything seemed to remind her of the time she saw two cats brutally murdered in cold blood right before her eyes.

Raisha
A grin was plastered on Raisha's maw as she stalked around the WindClan camp, seeing the wariness in its so-called "warriors'" eyes. Yes, she had struck down two queens. And yes, she was very proud of it. And the fear she saw in the Clan's eyes was priceless. Maybe in another life, things would have been different. A life where she had been raised in WindClan. Where she had grown up happily. Would she be here today? Would she ever have grown close to Fawnstep and had her kits? Maybe she might have been a better mother, and a better friend. And maybe so many cats would be alive today.
And maybe, just maybe, some tiny sliver of whatever light Raisha still had wished that had been the life she had.
But if it existed, that part of her was long since buried. Too long has she been hurt by the cats around her. She relished in their suffering now. Whatever life could have been for her would never be, and so Raisha stood there now.
And she did not give her potential life anymore thought. This was who she was now. There was no use wasting time wondering what Tawnykit's life could have been.

Magpiekit didn't know what was happening. There was something different in the air tonight, something that was unfamiliar. He didn't want to die. What-- why was that the first thing he thought? He looked up at the sky. Wow... it was prettier tonight than it had ever been before. His ear suddenly twitched and swivelled; he could swear he had heard pawsteps. Was there another cat there, or was he just tired and seeing things?
The past moons had been wonderful, and things were only looking up. Lionfur stretched lazily as he got up from his place in the middle of camp. Ah, being back in WindClan in newleaf... it was glorious. As always, the territory was beautiful. But these days, it was even moreso. The voices of the stars were silent. No more lies were spread from their filthy tongues. And now, that annoying Goldenstar had finally perished. In his view, it was only a matter of time before he was finally in charge of WindClan, like he had been destined to be. Ha. In a way, StarClan was right. But they didn't know just how I would become leader. A small smile on his handsome face, he strode over to join the group of his Clanmates that were beginning to gather. "What a nice night," he remarked to no one in particular. Where were Whisperpaw and Ryepaw? He could use a good conversation.
Ashfall looked to the sky with her one good eye. The moon was nearing its peak, as it had those few moons ago when her father marched upon the clans. Brought them to heel so easily. It infuriated her to no end, how easily it had happened. How they had not fought against the injustice of it all. How she hadn't. The clans were too soft, she saw that, she had seen that even before the Dark Forest had appeared. Windclan had been trampled, just as they always had been. Why she had been maimed, why countless had been injured and died. Just because Windclan wasn't strong enough. Maybe the Dark Forest was good for that, at least. Nearly everyone she had ever loved was dead anyhow, and her kits would only get stronger. As much as she hated the Dark Forest, they had a knack for hardening cats. So long as she eventually got to deliver justice to her father, Ashfall didn't quite care who was in charge.
---
Hawkheart lay sprawled in the middle of camp as if he were a kit. Though now he was substantially larger, and quite a bit more annoying to get around. It wasn't as if he wanted to be awake in the middle of the night anyhow, but the full moon was a full moon, and that meant a "gathering", or whatever they were calling it now. To be honest, all he wanted to do was sleep.
Whisperpaw attempted to enjoy the Gathering more than they had at previous clan gatherings. They still longed to see Fourtrees and meet a cat from another clan, but there was nothing they could do. As always, WindClan was kept at their camp for the gathering, with no news from other clans.
They looked around for cats they could say hello to. They tried to spot Lavenderdrop or Coyotegrin or Batsong. Their gaze instead caught that of Lionfur’s. They hadn’t spoken in a while, but Whisperpaw still felt an uneasy shiver run down their spine. Their ears reflexively flattened a bit so as to not hear any whispers that the wind may carry. StarClan or not, they didn’t want to give any Dark Forest cats any reason to get snappish at the Gathering.
Batsong sat in a secluded corner of camp glaring at Raisha as she paraded around camp. Batsong was very aware tonight was when they would be having a gathering under better circumstances.
It also marked the 1 moon marking of when Raisha had killed both of her adoptive mothers right in front of her. She hated Raisha so much and wanted so much to rake her claws down her. She knew that would only end in her demise though ... she wouldnt let Raisha have that... she had to live to keep the memories of Mistysky and swiftspirit alive. She teared up a little thinking of them and how just a moon ago they were both there for her and each other as a family...
Now they were gone and Raisha stalked around pridefully ... she probably knew how much pain Batsong was in and was just rubbing it in at this point.

Raisha could feel eyes on her. When she turned, it was as though her face lit up with some very twisted joy, and she made her way to where Batsong was. "I remember you! The scared little kit, trying so hard to be so big and brave. Until you saw me put claws to my words. Oh, and I thought you were a coward before. Not only did you run, no, you made everyone else run with the most shrill voice I have ever heard! Honestly, I think you did do some damage to me that night. My ears are still ringing!"
Cackling, Raisha circled Batsong, brushing her tail under the she-cat's chin. "And what do you think you are going to do now? Look at me with so much anger I turn to dust? Oh, I am shaking!"
That did it. Blazepaw stood up. The memories were being forced upon her, after all. She couldn’t shut them out anymore. The ginger she-cat stepped out of the apprentice den and towards Batsong and Raisha. “Enough, you big bully! Why do you do this? Who foxing HURT you?!”

"Well look at you, kit! Being all brave for the warrior kit. It's so cute! Well, if you must know, a lot of cats hurt me, actually. We've got the whole of Asylum quite literally stealing my kithood. Be thankful none of your kits were actually stolen this time, by the way. Believe me, that was not fun. Oh and picture this! I was about your age when I was forced to go to RiverClan! Ya, apparently they don't care about youth, you know, any cat can be a monster and all. You will learn this eventually kit. Monsters are made, not born. This is what happens when you don't take care of your kits. Keep that in mind, and stay out of my way."
With a sheathed paw, she pushed Blazepaw aside. It was moreso annoyed than malicious, but she could honestly care less about the kit. Instead, she turned back to Batsong.
"So, do you have anything to say? Or will you let this kit do all the talking?"
Ryepaw was laying with Blazepaw as she curled up in a ball and just cuddled. As she stood up he was going to stop her when Lionfur looked around and commented how nice of a night it was. "Perhaps for you Lionfur, however our entire way of life has been destoryed." he said with wariness in his eyes. Although he was friendly with the tom beforehand, he was wary now because there was something wrong in the air and Blazepaw was acting kinda weird.
"WHO FOXING HURT YOU?" Ryepaw whipped his head around as his mate challenged Rashia. "Uh, Blazepaw, that is not a good-" Rashia cut him off and started talking about Asylum and some other kinds of cats. "Rashia, it doesn't matter anymore. You are dead and are just bullies to us because your like wasn't the way that you wanted."
As always, Raisha was going overboard. However, it was up to the former rogue whatever she felt like doing. Lionfur simply rolled his eyes and shook out his fluffy golden mane of fur. "No one is destroying your way of life," he responded dismissively. His red-gleaming eyes carried an air of disappointment as they fell upon Ryepaw. "A few things have changed, but the Clan should be as strong as ever. It is those who still try and cling weakly to the stars that are holding WindClan back from the greatness it should be attaining now." Irritated, his tail flicked, and he looked away from the mouse-brain who was now deciding to challenge Raisha. The best way to deal with that mess was to ignore her, honestly. When he became leader.... Whisperpaw's gaze met his, and the tom smiled. Finally, a worthy conversation partner. Why hadn't the young cat been made a warrior yet? Well, he would see that it happened soon. "What sort of warrior name would you like?" he asked idly, striding closer and sitting by the large-eared apprentice. "For no reason in particular."
As much as Whisperpaw had hoped that Lionfur would be uninterested, the Dark Forest warrior had made his way over to them anyway. Whisperpaw sat and looked as politely as they could at Lionfur; at least this Dark Forest cat was polite.
“I’m not sure,” Whisperpaw replied, hoping the unease was not apparent in their voice. “I’ve tried not to give it too much thought. I wanted the leader to choose what felt best.” That was left in limbo now, of course. With Goldenstar having passed, and Shrikestorm seeming to be quite busy trying to ensure the clan ran smoothly in her absence, Whisperpaw had not tried to bother with becoming a warrior. Besides, they felt that they weren’t ready yet. They still had a lot to learn if they wanted to be as competent as the warriors that guarded the camp now.
