Frost's Glinting Light (c)

The last few rays of sunshine were quickly disappearing below the horizon, and the small figure of Dappledlight stood at the entrance to ShadowClan's camp. She scanned the muddy clearing, looking for the bright white pelt of Frostgaze. She had been made a warrior the day before, so it would be the first time she went on patrol as one. Excitement pricked in her paws. Soon she saw him and stood up. After dipping her head, she pushed through the thorny entrance to camp. The forest opened up before her; she waited for her father to follow.

"Greetings Dappledlight, I am glad to see that you are excited to begin your duties as a warrior." Frostgaze meowed in friendly greeting, dipping his head to his daughter. "Please, lead the way. I would be more than pleased to not lead for a little while." The short tom certainly meant his words. The burden of leadership and duty weighed heavily upon him, now more than ever. It would be nice to spend a little quality time with his daughter, and see how she was feeling about her newfound warriorship.

Frostgaze appeared and Dappledlight meowed, "Sure! Let's go this way." She flicked her tail in a direction that seemed to be the least muddy. The marsh grasses swayed in her wake until she found her way to a clearing. A scuffling sounded near the roots of a tree, and she crept forward. A vole was nibbling on something. Her paws barely brushed the ground as she came closer and closer. A small, surprised squeal sounded and was cut off by her paws slapping down on the creature. Dappledlight picked up the vole and quietly buried it.
