Harekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Soon enough, it was time for another kit to be apprenticed. The short tom leaped to the Jaggedrock, making sure he didn't twist his neck too much. His neck wound was still tender, though it had begun the process of scarring. It was his just reward for what he had done, ensuring his clan knew that their leadership had not given up. They would not give up on their ancestors. "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting!" His yowl rang through the clearing, as cold and proud as always. Life would continue, even though the dead stalked among them.

Harekit's ears pricked at the deputy's call, and she wriggled, grumbling a protest at the queen who had decided her pelt needed grooming right now. That could wait, the deputy calling a clan meeting was obviously far more important, not to mention more interesting. She bounced forward, wide mismatched eyes gazing up at Frostgaze curiously. The dark forest cats went ignored as if they were simply part of the scenery.

Deerleap pushed past the brambles of the nursery and into the camp. she gazed up at Frostgaze with a curious expression.

"Hey, Harekit," Leafkit yawned and sat down next to her sister. she gazed lazily at Frostgaze. she wouldn't have gone out had it not been to the other queens' insistence.

As Harekit appeared, Frostgaze began the ceremony. "Shadowclan! I have gathered you here to witness the naming of a new apprentice. Harekit, step forward." As Harekit stepped forward, Frostgaze continued. "Harekit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Harepaw. Swiftheart will be your mentor, I trust that she will pass down her enthusiasm and optimism to you." Quietly, he leaped down from the Jaggedrock, allowing mentor to know apprentice as the clan chanted the new name.

Harekit purred, gently nudging her ever-sleepy littermate with her shoulder. "Hey," She greeted, but that was all she could say before Frostgaze began to speak again. So it was her ceremony after all, then. All but vibrating with excitement, Harekit stepped forward as she was called, bright gaze watching the deputy. Her mentor was to be Swiftheart... The newly-named Harepaw grinned, turning toward her older sister as Frostgaze ended the ceremony and leapt from the rock. Spotting her pale fur, she bounced over. "I'm glad I get to train with you, sis." Harepaw grinned, "When do we start?"

Swiftheart sat below the jaggedrock listening to Frost give the meeting.... it felt strange having him give this meeting... yes deputies always gave the apprentice meetings but... seeing him up there reminded her that Murkystar should be with them now and she wasn't.. she wanted so much to have her mother back and wished the stars would soon return.

Her thoughts were quickly interrupted when she heard her name as the named mentor and she beamed with joy and excitement. "Harepaw! Harepaw!" she cheered on her sisters new name.

This was a perfect opportunity to get to know her newest siblings and she couldn't wait. She was full of excitement and energy just as much as when she herself had been appreticized and her mentor was announced.

Her younger sister bounded over and she grinned widely greeting her.

"Me too!" she purred super happy to have a new apprentice. She had taught deerleap well and was super proud of Deerleap's accomplishments as a warrior and having another apprentice was amazing and she was very happy for it.

"hmm lets get you a new spot in the apprentice den and we can start right after that mkay?"
She was just as excited to get to training as Harepaw was.
