"Come on, Finchpaw!" Featherfrost's voice was cheerful as she roused the apprentice from the den. The sky was clear and the air was warm, it would be a good day for hunting, she'd already decided. Finchpaw had been an apprentice for a few days, long enough to understand the basics of hunting, and Featherfrost hoped that this and the fair weather would prove fruitful today.
"We'll be hunting today." She mewed over her shoulder, leading the young tom out of camp with a wave of her tail. Once they'd made it a distance from camp, her pace slowed. Grass and blooming flowers were all around, leaf-bare's chill having given way almost completely to new growth. Recent rain had left the ground slightly damp, and she could hear the soft rustling of the prey in the undergrowth. Satisfied with the spot she'd chosen, the fluffy tortoiseshell turned toward her apprentice. "Alright, scent anything?"
