Kitepaw's StarClan Dream

The next two apprentices lined up to talk to StarClan were siblings, almost twins. With rich deep fur that distantly reminded Cloverheart of a cat she once knew, but whatever foggy reminders their pelts carried were shadowed by the simple fact they were Darkglow's kits. She had avoided the family almost entirely since Darkglow disappeared, or since the Gathering; it all happened at the same time, it was hard to tell exactly which event prompted their separation. She should have been watching them grow, inserting herself into their lives in their mother's stead, but she'd buried herself in the farthest reaches of her den and ignored all signs of them. Now, they were sitting on the cusp of warriorhood and she had no choice to address them.

The sister was first, with her slight frame and paler coat. Still healthy, though, and an interesting ruddy color they couldn't have gotten from Darkglow. Nodding to an empty nest, Cloverheart mewed, "Go ahead and get settled, Kitepaw. We're going to try and reach StarClan from my den, since we can't go to the Moonstone." The medicine cat's voice was mild as she started to explain, situating herself in her own nest as she spoke. "We're just going to sleep tonight. With hope and good luck, StarClan will find you here. If you have any questions, ask them now. Otherwise, I'll see you in the morning."

Kitepaw gave Cloverheart a curt nod. She knew that they were supposed to go to the Moonstone, but the Dark Forest wouldn't allow that. So instead, she rested in the nest next to the RiverClan medicine cat. Having no questions, the russet she-cat curled up, head at her tail, trying to sleep. If she was lucky, she would be able to reach StarClan tonight, but she somehow doubted it.

When the she-cat woke up, she didn't remember anything she could have dreamed of. Did she meet with StarClan? She didn't remember anything, but could it still have happened? Was not dreaming about anything normal? The she-cat didn't know, but she was too shy to ask Cloverheart about it. If she didn't remember, she probably didn't see a vision from StarClan, right?
