I'll Give You Everything I Have [Closed]

It was still hard to get used to the Dark Forest escorts following everywhere she went out of camp. But right now, she didn't fear for her life, but for Dovepaw. The small warrior constantly looked back at the ghostly presence and tried to protect her apprentice from those eyes by using her tail to cover her as she could while they travelled to the Sunningrocks. The dark-furred she-cat didn't dare to leave Darkglow's kit to wander too far and she kept instructed where to go so they would arrive safely.

The sun was starting to reach its highest point when they finally arrived at Sunningrocks. A sigh of relief escaped from Tinypool's muzzle and she finally let herself relax a little. She smiled at Dovepaw and purred. "Sorry for smothering you too much but we can never be sure with those Dark Forest cats... This is the Sunningrocks! Right now, it belongs to Riverclan but, according to the elders, Thunderclan is always ready to get into a fight to win it over. It is a great place to learn fishing and to collect pretty shells..." Abruptly, the molly stopped talking because of a knot forming in her throat. The memory of her first meeting with Darkglow came to her so suddenly and vividly when her eyes crossed with Dovepaw's... it made her want to lay down and never get up, mourning the disappearance of her friend. But she couldn't allow herself to do that right now. This was Dovepaw's first day of training and it wasn't fair to overwhelm her with her grief. "I apologize for that interruption. Do you have any questions before we start?"

"Why are dark forest cats bad? Did they do something mean, like bite cat's tails or kick sand in their face? Or did they cheat in moss ball? I don't like it when my siblings cheat in moss ball. It doesn't make it as fun, because I never win. I never win anyway, but still, it's not nice."

Then another thought hit her. "Did they take away our stars? I liked the stars. They were pretty. Are shells as pretty as the stars? Can I have some?"

For as little as she actually spoke, Dovekit sure did have a lot to say.

Tinypool was pleasantly surprised by her apprentice's eagerness to ask her questions. Though most of her inquiries were quite heavy subjects considering the time period they were living, the warrior was going to answer them truthfully. "I'm glad you can still recall the stars... And yes, the Dark Forest are the ones who took the stars. When a clan cat passes away, you either go to the Dark Forest or Starclan. If you're good, brave and kind of heart, the stars will be your new home. From up there, our ancestors guide our paws and look over the living." Her blue eyes glanced back to their ghostly escort before continuing. "The Dark Forest is where the evil, bad cats go. Those who kill other cats, steal, lie and break the Code go to a dark, empty and cold forest with no prey. That is the Dark Forest and to be honest... I don't know how they reached our world."

The she-cat knew these were gloomy subjects so she tried to lighten up the mood. "But don't worry. I'm sure the stars will come back eventually. And if you want, we can prepare their arrival by gathering some shells! You know, your mother really liked the shells I brought her when she was a kit and I was an apprentice. Maybe you will like them too..." Her voice had a taste of sadness and nostalgia behind but the molly maintained her warm smile. Approaching the river, her eyes searched through the shore for something shiny. In no time, a small, yet clean and unbroken white-yellowish shell caught her attention. With her tail, the warrior motioned the apprentice to come to her and she pushed the small object towards her. "What do you think of this one? After we fish something, we can bring it back to decorate your moss bed or you can show it to your littermates."

"Why does Jaystar want to let the Dark Forest cats in if they are bad?"

Dovepaw tilted her head, curious of the answer, but immediately forgot the question when the shells were presented. "It's so pretty! Do you think the stars will really like them? What do stars do when they are happy? And of course I remember the stars, I see them all the time in my world! Don't you dream about the stars?"

For a training session, there wasn't much actual training going on. The topic of fishing, although mentioned by Tinypool, was always drowned out in the little she-cat's head. There were so many other questions she had, fishing was the last thing on her mind.

"I prefer to believe that he is doing it to protect us from them. We don't want to get on their bad side." She mewed, remembering her encounter with Whitesnake. The young warrior didn't want to keep talking about the Dark Forest... it left a bad taste in her mouth. Luckily for her, Dovepaw didn't seem to be really interested in continuing the topic.

Tinypool looked at her apprentice with motherly eyes as she spoke. If only Darkglow could see how wonderful her daughter was. So full of questions, curiosity and naivety. Young Dovepaw had still a whole world to see and though she couldn't ever replace her biological mother... she will teach everything she knew. For Darkglow's legacy. "I'm sure they will love them. And I dream of the silverpelt every night. I hope we both see it soon one day and greet it with many pretty shells." She purred, nudging affectionately at the young apprentice.

"But before that, why don't we try some fishing, huh? You can impress Flywhisker with a nice meal today if you're lucky." With a motion of her tail, the dark-furred warrior commanded Dovepaw to follow her to the shore. With the ice finally melting and the trees becoming greener by each day, fish had become more abundant. Better for a young apprentice to practice without getting frustrated. "Come over here and look... do you see those silvery shapes moving on the surface? They are fast and slippery, but very tasty. You have to crouch and approach them, not letting your shadow cast over the water or they will flee. When they are close enough for your claws' reach, you strike! Look at me..." Tinypool did everything she said and waited on top of a nearby rock. As a kitten born in leaf-bare she had never seen so many fish in the water and she was excited. Her blue eyes scanned the river, waiting for the best shot...

However, the abundance of prey had also caught someone else's attention. Because of her focus on the fishes, the warrior wasn't able to react fast enough when a large shadow covered her. The hawk swoop down and hit her on the shoulder with its talon, making her fall to the least deep part of the shore. The bird sunk its claws into her shoulder, keeping her down as she hissed furiously. "Stupid bird! She yowled, biting the predator's wing to let her go.

Tinypool attempted to catch a fish, using 3 stamina. The catch was unsuccessful and a hawk has appeared!
