What of it? [Closed]

Softpaw slunk quietly through the forest looking for food for his clan. Thunderclan was not doing great of lately with very little land to their name and one of the smaller clans of the forest they would need anything they could get to get themselves ahead. Softpaw was a total loyalist to Thunderclan and he would help his clan by any means necessary ... that included what he did at the gathering which he still felt was the correct thing to do. He wondered if he would have any regret or remorse for his actions... he did not! The feeling felt amazing, he had so much power during those coupld of moments and Riverclan got what was coming to them. He was tripping off the power as he continued on his way thinking about how he would do it all over again if it meant keeping his clan moving forward. He was tired of Riverclan bullying them and to him it felt like he had stood up for himself when he did what he did. It was justified in his mind. He looked forward to meeting them in battle if it ever came to that.

He blamed Riverclan for the gathering going to complete chaos actually and reasoned that they had thrown the forest out of balance when they started hogging up all the land that rightfully belonged to them. He smirked, if that was the case Riverclan had spelled their own doom he remembered how Viperfang had destroyed one of the riverclan cats (Hollyleaf) and he had enjoyed watching that. The sick in the head tom chuckled to himself as he kept looking for food.

Spotting a mouse near by he grinned. It was out and about from its hinding place to try and find water, it was nearby a frozen over pond but it would have no luck there and Softpaw was sure to make it the last mistake the mouse ever made. Leaping forward he easily caught the thing in his paws and held it down by its tail. It squeaked trying to get away but softpaw held its tail pinned to the ground with his large paw. He looked down at the little thing and grinned. "oh where were you off to?" he used his other paw to smack at it playing with his food as it continued to try and get away. Softpaw enjoyed feeling the power of being in charge and holding a life in his paws. He smacked it over and over before it finally went still. "So funny... you are so weak yet the clan depends on you... ironic perhaps even" snatching it up he continued along his way unaware that anyone else was around for now.

Darkpaw had been out hunting as well, but his luck hadn't been so good this time around. He'd missed several birds and a squirrel and that had been the best that he could find all day. He'd been ready to head home, feeling defeated. A chuckle beyond his line of sight in the bushes made his fur bristle. He knew who it belonged to. He crouched low and crept across the ground silently towards the noise. He peered out from the leaves of a hardy winter bush and his eyes landed on Softpaw.

His ears pinned back and his tail tip twitched. The fact the had was having fun tormenting a mouse rather than dispatching it quickly brought a low growl from the back of his throat. Darkpaw didn't bother being quiet as he slipped between the leaves and into full view of Softpaw. His fur was bristling and his claws were unsheathed.

"Pretty big talk coming from someone slapping a mouse around for entertainment." Not to mention someone who more or less sucker-punched a Riverclan cat when the Dark Forest came to the Gathering. Softpaw had shown his true colors that day... many cats had. Starlingflare too.

"There is no reason to torment prey before you kill it. It's food, but it should still be treated with respect." Darkpaw was angry, but most of his anger stemmed from Softpaw killing the Riverclan cat. He searched the other apprentice's face, curious to see if there was anything at all that was good about him and worth saving. Darkpaw doubted it.

Softpaw spun around facing his younger peer. He rolled his eyes at his talk “at least I caught something” he sneered pointing out dark paws empty paws . Cats like darkpaw were the problem with thunderclan he reasoned. Not willing to do what was needed to get done to ensure the survival of them. He sighed

“Oh darkpaw so naive about the world still… the natural order of things is we eat prey it’s a one way relationship and there is no … respect in it. In the forest there are hunters and prey. The only real question darkpaw is which one are you?” He got up in his face when he said this looking him dead in the eyes. He spat the word respect as if it was a dirty word in his mouth. “If thunderclan is to survive we need to take action! Thunderclan are hunters”. He wanted to add on that riverclan was prey but he felt he had said enough for now and he didn’t need cats questioning who had killed beaver paw (he did not know that dark already somehow knew) He flicked his tail back and forth. It was unlikely that darkpaw would agree with him but they were both thunderclan and that was enough for softpaw to at least try and get along with him even if anything past that was impossible

He didn't appreciate being talked down to. He fixed the other apprentice in a harsh stare. He imagined throwing claws at him and seeing how mouthy he was after that, but for now he refrained. "You're narrow-minded and full of yourself." He growled. Darkpaw didn't flinch when the other apprentice got in his face. He'd been confronted by things far scarier than this brat. It didn't matter that he was older. His mental maturity suggested that he was younger than Darkpaw by many moons.

"Don't talk down to me like you're a warrior already. You're still an apprentice too. I quit being a kit when my dad- er... Morningstar brought those things here." He nodded in direction of camp, referring to the Dark Forest cats. "You should still be in the nursery." He hissed, inching his face closer to Softpaw's. So now what was he going to do?

Softpaw grinned, so Darkpaw's father was morning star? err rather whatever cat morningstar used to be. Names and formalities mattered little to Softpaw but no matter he had all the information he needed now. "So your father was that monster huh?" he didnt back down. "That same power ... that same evil flows in you now Darkpaw like it or not you and i are not so different as much as you try and high road yourself" He grinned at Darkpaw's comments and flashed his fangs while doing so.

"Yup im full of myself because I know that Thunderclan is meant to be the best and if you think otherwise you are as foolish as those fishbrains we share a border with" He didnt really flinch or pay any piece of mind to Darkpaw getting closer, what was he gonna do attack him over some comments he made? who would be the kit then?

"Good you're angry... hold onto that, use it against our enemies" he said as he gathered his catch and made his way towards camp. Anger was all to familiar to Softpaw and was his typical mood.

Softpaw is leaving but slowly, Darkpaw can still interact if he wants to.

Darkpaw's tail lashed and a growl welled up in his throat. How dare Softpaw compare him to Morningstar! "His blood may be in my veins but my morals and conscious are my own! I'd kill him if I ever got the chance and anyone who wanted to help him, or traitors to Thunderclan!" He yowled the last words accusingly before he spun on his heel. He wasn't going back to camp with Softpaw. He wanted to be on his own. He'd learn to fight by himself and he'd catch more prey before he returned. Darkpaw stormed off toward the Owl Tree, determined to destroy a predator and bring it back.
