Magpiesight padded across the moors, each pawstep crunching on snow. The recent battle with the rouges had left Windclan victorious, but the harshness of the season never stopped lashing its blows. Buzzardpaw and Timbersun were gone, in one fell swoop. Now it was just her and Swiftspirit. As a kit, she had always wondered what it would be like to not have any siblings, and to have every last scrap of attention on her. She knew what it was like now, experienced the bitterness that came with it. She hated it. She may've survived the monster, but clearly not everyone was so lucky.
But at least she was a warrior. If she had nothing else, at least she wasn't a -paw anymore. However, that did mean that she had to start pulling her weight more. Today, she was so focussed on the hunt she completely ignored that really, really nice rock over there, and only thought of hunting. Her sights zoned in on a skinny rabbit nearby, clearly struggling as much as the cats to find food. She dashed towards it, moving so quickly that it had no chance to try and run. Her jaws clamped down around it, and she buried it quickly, aware that it might be the only prey she found on the whole patrol.

Batsong was out of camp on her own for the time being. The recent loss of Daisypaw and Timbersun and Buzzardpaw ... and Berrypaw was hard... the list just kept getting longer of the friends she was losing and she couldnt stand being in camp anymore. She was always a single child and her parents had died when she was only an apprentice. And now with all these recent deaths it was like reliving the feeling of being all alone all over again.
Swiftspirit and Mistysky had been kind enough to take her in as one of their own in a "parent" sense ... but both of them had recently lost cats close to them and Batsong felt aweful for them.
She had to get her mind off this and onto something more productive, sitting around camp was driving her insane!
She walked along the moor and spotted a lone figure a ways out, her back hair bristled not sure what to expect as she slunk down low to the ground. As she got closer she relaxed recognizing the scent as her windclanmate Magiesight, she knew she had just recently lost her brother Buzzardpaw and her father Timbersun. She did not know Magiesight super well but they had a common "parent" of sorts with Swiftsprit having taken Batsong in at a young age.
She felt so bad for her and knew what it was like to lose ones you cared about like that. The feeling of helplessness and such that came with it. She slowly padded forward and called out to her.
"M...M... Magpiesight" she called out her stutter since kithood still clear as ever. It was hard for her to talk and always had been, it was one of the reasons she was so shy around cats at first, until she knew them better.
Walking over to her clanmate she added on in the same stuttering way "M---mind if I j--... join you?" she asked tilting her head. She knew that Magpiesight may not want that right now and maybe she preferred to be alone after alll that had happened lately. Batsong would understand but she wanted to at least offer to be there for her .... "sibling" of sorts.

Timbersun, gone. Buzzardpaw, gone. Daisypaw, gone. The losses kept piling up, and every time Swiftspirit looked towards her only remaining family, she felt her heart clench. She couldn't lose another cat, especially not another kit. She hadn't been as close as she would've liked with Buzzardpaw, and her relationship with Timbersun had been dead just as quickly as it had begun, but their losses still hurt.
All she could do was put up a brittle smile, a weak attempt to hide the pain. Following Magpiesight out of camp, she hung back as her daughter spotted prey, knowing that the last thing the clan needed was missed catch after missed catch.
"Good catch." Swiftspirit mewed softly, gently pressing against her daughter for a moment. She was the only one of her kits to earn their warrior name. It was well-deserved, but Swiftspirit worried for her even so. She was an adult and as capable as anyone, she knew that. But so too had been Timbersun. And he was gone. Swiftspirit found that she'd mostly ignored whoever else was on the patrol, watching her daughter as if she were a fresh-faced 'paw rather than a trained warrior.
Batsong's voice broke into her thoughts, and Swiftspirit offered the young warrior a tight smile. She thought of her like a daughter too, just as she had Daisypaw. "Hey," She mewed. Batsong was a good cat, and if they were to run into trouble... Well, Swiftspirit would appreciate having an extra set of paws. Timbersun and Buzzardpaw hadn't been that fortunate.
