Briarthorn usually didn’t mind the snow; she had a thick enough pelt that it was rarely cold enough to actually bother her. The monotony of winter and lack of prey had been getting to her though- sucking the little joy she did have out if each day. Her mistakes plagued her mind relentlessly, creeping up on her even in rest. Thankfully, a brief reprieve of sunlight graced the forest, even if only for a little while. It made the day perfect for hunting, so she set out on a patrol to search the creek for anything that might be used as prey. Once the patrol arrived at the creek, she set off on a slightly different path from the others seeking out prey.

The gentle lull of songbirds lured Briarthorn in, and she dropped into a low crouch as she spotted one on a nearby fallen log. Just as she was about to leap and go for the kill, the little bird noticed her creeping forward and quickly flee away to the safety of a nearby tree. Now that it knew she was there, she knew she stood no chance of catching it.
