On my Own [solo]

It was a love-hate relationship that the tom had grown to have with his duties. As a warrior, Myrtlepaw would have to be able to feed the clan, and fight for it. Frustration flexed his paws as he thought about doing such a thing. Harming living creatures, other cats, was something that he just... didn't find very appealing. But, his loyalties triumphed over any discomforts. As such, the older apprentice found himself out in the forest, searching for something to add to the fresh-kill pile. He could gladly stay in camp all day and help cats around there, but that was usually reserved as a punishment for apprentices who misbehaved in some way. So, his punishment would have to be going out and actually doing normal apprentice duties.

A small robin caught the tom's eye, and his whiskers twitched as it seemed to not detect him. As he went to pounce, the robin seemed to escape just beyond his paws, and a frustrated hiss worked out of the fluffy apprentice unintentionally.

Kicking at some of the snow that was nearby, Myrtlepaw opted for sulking a couple of steps away from his failed hunting spot. He wasn't the best at hunting by any means, but he still had a strong drive to do some type of action to help his Clan. He wanted to prove that he was capable of more than just simply cleaning out the camp, and his pride would drive him to wherever he would need to be. Clearing his head by padding deeper into the territory, he allowed himself to simply stop and sense.

There was another bird of some type that he could detect - ultimately, he was a little bit unsure of just what type of bird it was. But as he allowed his gaze to focus where the scent took him, it was a jay he ultimately found, picking at the floor below. It was rather plump, having somehow been able to find a great selection of food within the last few days. Unfortunately, it would be the downfall of the bird, as Myrtlepaw lept towards the creature. It was an easy kill, as it struggled to take off in time.

Pride swelled in the toms chest as he now had his catch, which he would take back to camp and add to the fresh-kill pile as a token of his efforts.
