Shypaw's Warrior Ceremony

There had been a time that Murkystar had been uncertain if this day would come. Shypaw's wounds had been terrible, and the leader had feared that her apprentice would be unable to heal and bounce back from them. With careful tending to them, and perseverance, she steadily recovered, and now Murkystar was unspeakably happy to be standing at the edge of Jaggedrock in order to call the clan together. "ShadowClan! Gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock."

Shypaw sat beneath the jagged rock, her short soft white fur fluffed up a little against the cold, slender tail curled over tiny paws. Her silvery eyes were round as the almost-full moon, looking up at her mentor and leader whose composed yet clear excitement was contagious. Shypaw met Murkystar's eyes with a small smile, waiting to see what her next words were.

With uncharacteristic energy, Snowpaw sprinted into camp with a vole in her mouth. She deposited her catch in the fresk-kill pile and sat down below Jaggedrock, whiskers twitching in excitement. She hoped this was Shypaw’s warrior ceremony, it was about time and she deserved it.

As the crowd gathered beneath her, Murkystar searched for the familiar form of Shypaw, spotting her gazing up at her from below. Smiling to her apprentice, ehen the clan had fully gathered, she lifted her head to continue. "ShadowClan, I've gathered you all here today to act as witnesses to an apprentice rising to the rank of a warrior. Shypaw, please step forward." She requested, waiting patiently for the apprentice to do so before continuing. "I, Murkystar, leader of ShadowClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Shypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Deerleap settled down at the edge of the crowd. what was it now? she hoped it wasn't anything bad. upon hearing Murkystar's words, she purred and gave Shypaw an encouraging smile. about time, too.

Shypaw noticed Deerleap and Snowpaw smile at her and she ducked her head bashfully. She looked back up when Murkystar called her forward and stood slowly, padding under the shadow of the jagged rock.

She had expected, deep down, that this day would never come. It was here. Shypaw stretched up on her toes to stand so tall the tiny she-cat was almost arched like a crescent moon. Her eyes glowed silver in the dark as she met Murkystar's pale green, mewing with uncharacteristic confidence in her soft voice, "I do."

Murkystar dipped her head, acknowledging the she-cat's response before she continued with a purr rumbling in her voice. "Then by the powers granted to me, I give you your warrior name. Shypaw, from this moment on you will be known as Shymoon. ShadowClan honors your tenacity and curiosity, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ShadowClan." She mewed, leaping from Jaggedrock to rest her head briefly on the newly named warrior's. "Don't forget, you will hold a silent vigil today to mark the beginning of your warriorhood. Congratulations, Shymoon." She mewed, backing away after a heartbeat to allow the rest of the clan to step forward to congratulate the new warrior.

Snowpaw was first to step forward, nudging Shymoon with a grin. “Congratulations, sis!”

OOC: They’re more or less sisters. Frostgaze adopted both if I recall correctly.

"Shymoon! Shymoon!" Deerleap cheered, flicking a tail over the she-cat's ears.
