Let's Try Again [Featherpaw]

Starlingflare didn't like the fact that they had to give up on hunting so soon, but it seemed things were not in their favor yesterday. Not to mention the random family of Raccoons they stumbled upon it seems. This time they were out in a different part of the territory, away from where they had tried their hunt yesterday. Maybe they would have more success here. "Alright, let's try again."

Having to give up on their hunting had been a disappointment, but in the end Starlingflare had been right. Now they were out again, and Atalante was determined to catch something. "No raccoons this time... I hope." Atalante muttered with a half-hearted smile. Turning, she prowled quietly around the undergrowth, bright blue gaze picking out the form of a mouse in the snow. She stalked toward it, careful to keep her feathery tail from brushing the ground.

A growl split the quiet air and Atalante froze mid-step, gaze lifting to her mentor's in a 'you have to be kidding me' look. Another raccoon? Seriously? Sighing, the fluffy tortoiseshell turned and leapt forward, claws raking across the creature's face as it came toward her.

"I swear to thorns..." He growled out as another Raccoon seemed to appear. Was Thunderclan having a raccoon problem? Or were these two just having terrible luck.. Either way he hated this. He just wanted to catch some food. Was they too hard to ask?

"Next time, don't bring up the raccoons." He told her, jumping into action. Finishing this Raccoon like he finished the others.

"We can line our nests with them, at least." Her whiskers twitched, but nest lining wouldn't feed the clan. With a twitch of her tail, Atalante turned in search of prey once more. It wasn't long before she spotted another mouse, maybe even the same one the raccoon had scared off earlier. She crouched, stalking toward it once more... Only for the sharp cry of a bird overhead (not an owl, at least) to make the mouse look up. Atalante pounced toward it, her paws only coming up with empty air. "Fox. Dung." She muttered, tail lashing once in frustration.

Starlingflare let out a small huff, and didn't bother to reply. She was right. They could line some nest with them, he started to pad away, trying to find his own prey now that they weren't being attacked by Raccoons on a constant again. He ignored her curse as she had apparently missed a piece of prey. His own mind focused on the scent of mouse he caught. He crouched, slowly moving forward on the mouse before pouncing.

As soon as he did another Raccoon appeared, right in front of his face. Were they just on pest control now? "Oh my thorns!" He growled out as he leapt at the Raccoon.

...Another raccoon? Seriously? Had they descended from twolegplace and just decided to invade the forest? Evidently their numbers needed some serious culling. Ata was perfectly fine contributing to that culling, but she also wanted to hunt. Fighting was hungry work, and raccoons weren't exactly edible. Either way, it needed to be dealt with, and so she leaped forward, claws sinking into the creature's neck.

He wasn't going to let it end like this. He wanted to actually catch something for once, but these days it seemed near impossible. "I'm gonna try to catch something again, if another raccoon shows up then so be it." The tom growled out. "I just want to try to catch something before we have to make our way back to camp." He informed his apprentice.

He didn't really await a response before moving further into the territory. Another mouse. It was small but some food was better than none. He needed to try, and try he did. A sigh escaped the tom as he missed. Thorns.. this was so annoying but he didn't have it in him to be angry anymore. It wasn't worth it.. "Let's go.." He muttered out.
