Rosekit's Apprentice Ceremony

Shrikestorm padded to the top of Tallrock, looking down upon his clan. "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Tallrock for a clan meeting!"

Rosekit was sheltering under an unruly overhang of gorse, her expression far off and dreamy, her tail twitching restlessly. 

Her ears perked when Shrikestorm called WindClan together, and she trotted over hopefully, long wispy tail swaying with anticipation. She was six moons old, leggy and long-bodied, still growing, with paws and ears still awkwardly big and tail too long.

She sat and tried to curl her tail neatly over her paws, but she couldn't control its excited swishing as she waited for Shrikestorm's next words, yellow-orange eyes fixed on the deputy and shining hopefully.

Batsong sat at the base of tallrock looking up at the deputy, he had been her mentor and now it was time for another kit to be named an apprentice, (at least that was her guess) she purred waiting for Shrikestorm to tell them what was up.

Shrikestorm smiled at the soon-to-be-apprentice's clear excitement. It reminded him of when he was just becoming an apprentice. It seemed so long ago, and yet it wasn't that long ago, was it? "Rosekit, you have reached the age of six moons. You are now ready to become an apprentice. From now until you are ready to become a warrior, you will be known as Rosepaw. Batsong will be your mentor."

Batsong's jaw dropped slightly... her... be a mentor? WOW! she was so ... shocked. She herself was a very new warrior and to receive an apprentice already?

She was shocked, but very happy. She grinned widely and walked happily over to Rosepaw I c-c..can't wait to train you she said smiling with a grin to her friend and now apprentice.

Rosekit's heart leapt when Shrikestorm smiled right at her. She could contain her excitement until he named her mentor and then Rosepaw jumped gracefully to her paws, joy in every line of her body.

She watched Batsong's jaw drop before a grin lit her mentor's face. Rosekit bopped her mentor's nose with breathless clumsy enthusiasm, chirping, "I can't wait..!"
