Subject: Scorchpaw's Moonstone Journey Thu 3 Feb 2022 - 10:34
Swiftspirit scanned the snow-covered camp as she exited the medicine den. There was another apprentice to take to the moonstone, and no healthy medicine cat to take them, so for now she was happy to help out where she could even if she found the travelling herbs to be absolutely vile.
It only took a moment before she spotted Scorchpaw, and Swiftspirit trotted over with a small smile. "Hey, are you ready to go?" She greeted, "You'll have to eat these, they'll give your strength and keep you from getting hungry. They taste awful though, nothing I can do about it." The last was said apologetically as she set the herb bundle in front of Scorchpaw. Once the apprentice had eaten them, she turned to lead him from camp.
---
The last rays of sunlight were fading, leaving the entrance to highstones shrouded in long shadows as the pair approached. "You won't be able to see much in the tunnels, use your whiskers or grab my tail and we'll be fine." She began softly, "When we get to the moonstone, lay down and touch your nose to it. Starclan will visit you in your sleep." She waited for Scorchpaw's confirmation before leading him into the tunnel, the pair quickly shrouded in darkness. For all that Swiftspirit disliked the tunnels, at least her memory was good enough that she knew where to put her paws. The final corner was rounded, revealing the cavern where the moonstone glowed softly, lit by the ethereal light of the moon high above. Stepping aside, Swiftspirit gently nudged the apprentice forward with an encouraging nod.
The world around Scorchpaw faded, replaced by what appeared to be WindClan territory. However, the stars seemed to glow even brighter than usual. One of the stars, glowing brightest of all, seemed as if it was descending from the sky. It began to take shape, turning into a cat. Falconstar descended from the stars, hitting the ground and padding forward towards the WindClan apprentice.
"Hello Scorchpaw," he mewed evenly, brushing his tail over the apprentice's spine. "I see you are about to become a new WindClan warrior. This must be an exciting time for you." He smiled, remembering his own warrior ceremony. It had been so long ago, but he remembered it clear as day. "Don't worry: as long as your loyalty and faith remains with WindClan, you will always be WindClan in the eyes of your ancestors."
Scorchclaw's eyes widened as he found himself in a new place, excitement rushing through him. He was a bit disappointed to find it looked just like Windclan territory, but he supposed it was Starclan nonetheless. He was trying his best to listen closely to Falconstar amidst glancing around him, trying to see everything all at once.
As the cat talked about Scorchpaw's warrior ceremony, he felt himself practically glow with pride. He was really going to do it, he couldn't wait to be the best warrior he could be. He promised himself his loyalty would never deviate from Windclan, and that he would work every day to make his clan proud.
