Underground Hunting [Solo]

Fawnpaw was just recently apprenticed but he still feel like he had to immediately provide for his clan, despite not having much training. Hentooth brought him and his brother to Windclan for a reason: to have a home. Now, the orange tabby had to have a place in that home and be worthy of it. No matter if cats like Mistypaw didn't like his family arrived at the camp. Remember that sour welcoming from the Windclan apprentice made him let out a hiss under his teeth as he entered the tunnels to hunt.

The apprentice was still getting familiar with the underground maze that was constructed below Windclan's land. Thanks to living in a fox den during his first days of life, Fawnpaw didn't fear the darkness nor the small spaces. Actually, the tunnels reminded him of the warmth of his mother protecting them from the harshness of leaf-bare. He purred at the memory before returning his focus to the task at hand. The orange tom sniffed the air and searched in the ground for footprints that could lead him to prey. Slowly, he followed the tracks of what seemed to be a rabbit or a hare nearby. He still wasn't sure how to differentiate them. Prey was prey.

He followed the scent until he found a distracted rabbit. The tom licked his lips and lowered his body, ready to leap towards it. However, something scared it off. Fawnkit stood up confused until a small, brown animal emerged from one of the holes: a weasel. Fawnpaw hissed at the animal, who suddenly turned its attention to him, growling menacingly. If he couldn't get the rabbit, he would get this animal. The weasel was faster and jumped right towards the apprentice's leg. Fawnpaw hissed angrily and lashed out at the weasel, attacking the animal with his free paw twice.

Alone and desperate, the weasel continued biting the young tom's leg. But Fawnpaw wasn't gonna give up. He was going to bring this little pest back to his clan as prey to prove his worth. Swinging his leg, he shoved the animal away and headbutt it to the ground. Before the weasel could stand up, Fawnpaw quickly attacked with his unsheathed claws, killing it swiftly.

The young apprentice tried to calm his breath after that rush of adrenaline. He looked at his injured leg and licked the wounds. Berrypaw could heal him later when he got back to camp. It wasn't a really bad injury but he was tired. The young tom wasn't used to battle after all. However, he still had some energy to keep trying to hunt. He buried the dead weasel and sniffed the air, in search of the rabbit that ran away just a moments ago. Maybe it had a burrow near where he could catch something...

Luck was in his favour this time. As he followed the tracks of the rabbit, he found a stronger scent. Just like he suspected... the animal wasn't alone. A group of three rabbits were seemingly deciding where to go through the tunnels. Fawnpaw smiled and without losing a second he launched himself towards the animals. They screeched in terror as the apprentice landed on top of the fattest of the bunch. The rabbit was big and attempted to fight back, hitting the tom's stomach. Breath left his lungs for a second but Fawnpaw didn't lose his grip. He sunk his fangs on the rabbit's scruff and waited for its life to end.

Once it was over, Fawnpaw stood up and limped back to where he left the weasel. With both rabbit and weasel on his mouth, the apprentice was barely able to walk but he was more than satisfied. "This will show them... a rabbit and a weasel all by myself! Mom and my brothers will be impressed!"


Fawnpaw attempted to catch a rabbit for -7 sp. The catch was succesful.
