Deerkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Frostgaze wasted no time in trotting over to the base of the Jaggedrock, eyeing it cautiously before leaping up. He was looking for ice that could've froze on the rock, and it would be terribly awkward if he were to leap up, only to slide off and hurt himself. Thankfully, his claws clicked against solid stone, and he announced to the clearing, "All cats old enough to silently stalk in the shadows, gather in the shadow of Jaggedrock for a clan meeting." His gaze swept across the clearing, searching for the one that would be apprenticed tonight, Deerkit.

Nightstalker yawned as he padded out of the warrior's den, having taken just a few extra moments to wake up. He was so tired lately, but fighting the foxes, countless patrols after predator scents, sparring, fruitless hunting, it was no wonder the young tom was exhausted. He had barely given himself enough time against medicine cats orders so he could get back to the grind. The dark-furred tom's ears perked as he heard Frostgaze's call, and padded up to the growing circle and sat down.

deerkit popped her head out of the nursery. it's starting! her fur fluffed up with excitement. now she could finally prove her worth to the rest of the clan. who was going to be her mentor? knowing that she was almost all white except for a tabby tail and tabby markings on her head, it would only make sense for her mentor to as white. how else would she learn how to hide in the shadows like any other shadowclan cat?

Spotting a small, familiar figure in the crowd, Duskflight gave a short purr. Although they've only interacted once, he felt proud for the young molly. Now that he's taken a closer look, she looked more like an apprentice-aged cat— no longer just a kit anymore. He was relieved from how excited she seemed, and soon trotted up to join with the crowd. Not too far away, but not too close, either. Just in the middle, close enough for the she-kit to be able to spot him, and that she has his support behind.

deerkit spotted duskflight among the crowd of cats. warmth spread around her at the thought that he had come to see her become an apprentice. although it wouldn't make sense, the young she-cat couldn't help but hope that the caring tom would be her mentor. which brought back the topic of mentors on her mind. there were few white cats in shadowclan, one being frostgaze, and he already had an apprentice. what was the name of the other cat? oh, yes, Swiftheart. could she be it? she'll know soon enough.

As Deerkit arrived, Frostgaze began the ceremony. "Shadowclan! I have gathered you here to witness the naming of a new apprentice. Deerkit, step forward." As Deerkit approached, his gaze swept across the cats gathered, ensuring that Deerkit's future mentor was in attendance. "Deerkit, you have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Deerpaw. Swiftheart will be your mentor. While she is one of our newer warriors, I trust that she will be able to pass on her enthusiasm and compassion to you." With that, he leapt down from the rock with a thud, leaving Deerpaw to see her new mentor, and for Swiftheart to see her new apprentice.

Swiftheart! deerpaw's mind raced with excitement, all previous thoughts gone. her gaze searched the crowd of cats surrounding the jagged rock, looking for the enthusiastic white she-cat. though they had never interacted, deerpaw knew that Swiftheart was a reliable, cheerful and strong warrior, and she hoped that they would form a close bond.

At Frostgaze's call Swiftheart sat below the jaggedrock waiting for the announcement. Her jaw dropped in excitement and shock as she had been named mentor of Deerpaw! She was so happy and felt very honored to be named a mentor, being such a young warrior herself.

She walked excitedly over to Deerpaw her enthusiasm and excitement clearly visible even higher than usual.

She touched noses to her new apprentice as was tradition and purred happily Congratulations Deerpaw! she meowed, I am honored to be your mentor and cant wait to get to training. For now let's get you settled in the new apprentice den.
Then later we can get training moving later tonight. With that she helped Deerpaw get a new nest set up in the apprentice den.
