Subject: Featherpaw's Moonstone Journey Sat 8 Jan 2022 - 18:59
One more quick trip to the Moonstone, before she would have to set off to Twolegplace. There was still much to be done– Cloverheart was still thinking of which warriors to bring, though she'd narrowed it down to two. Cloverheart still felt like she was leaving holes in the Clan by leaving, but this at least presented some normalcy. As much as she hated the trek to Highstones, it was routine. Making her way to the apprentice's den and prodding Featherpaw's sleeping form, she set down the prepared bundle of herbs beside her. "Wake up, Featherpaw, and eat these. It's time to go to Highstones, and they'll make the trip easier."
.....
Ducking out of the tunnel that squeezed them down into the cavern, Cloverheart swished her tail, nodding at the Moonstone as she guided Featherpaw to its side. "Pretty, isn't it? Lie down next to it," she instructed gently, settling in her own spot not far off. "Touch your nose to it, and you'll wake up in StarClan. I'll be right here when you wake up. Enjoy your dream." With that, Cloverheart nodded and pressed her own nose to the stone, easing into cool slumber.
Featherpaw woke up to soft prodding on her fur and to the sound of Cloverheart's voice. She was aware that all apprentices are required to travel to the moonstone before they can receive their warrior name. Featherpaw had been an apprentice for awhile now, and had plenty of training on her back. "Is it time?" Featherpaw asked, before scenting the bitter herbs that she had seen other apprentices take before they traveled to the moonstone themselves. The scent of the herbs answered her question without needing an official answer from Cloverheart. She quickly ate the leaves, cringing a bit at the taste, then followed Cloverheart out of camp.
...
Featherpaw continued to follow Cloverheart as they finally reached the mouth of the moonstone tunnel. She walked along through the tunnel until she came to a stop infront of a beautifully glowing stone. [color:1764=FF69B4]"It's beautiful." Featherpaw responded. With that she listened to Cloverheart's instructions and pressed her nose to the moonstone, which felt cold. She drifted off into a dream.
Dappleshine had been called once again to greet an apprentice at the Moonstone, and she had left Raventail's side with a soft promise to return soon. The harsh winter had not gone unnoticed among the stars, but there was little they could do about it unfortunately. As the young cat materialized before her, waking among the stars, Dappleshine smiled kindly. "Greetings, Featherpaw, and welcome to StarClan. My name is Dappleshine, it's so good to meet you." She purred, gesturing to their starry surroundings. "Shall we walk together?"
Featherpaw awoke in a landscape filled with stars. She glanced around her surroundings and realized that she was in StarClan dreaming away. The sound of an elderly cat's voice filled her ears as she was greeted by Dappleshine, a former elder of her clan.
"Its great to meet you Dappleshine, sure let's go for a walk.", Featherpaw spoke to the elder. She wasn't quite sure what to expect with her moonstone journey with Cloverheart, so she wasn't sure what to talk about or ask any StarClan cat. She walked beside the StarClan elder and then spoke again "Do you have any stories to tell me? Or possibly any special messages from StarClan?"
Dappleshine purred as the apprentice agreed, and the two began to walk together. She turned to look at her as she broke the silence, smiling at her questions. "Well that depends. What stories would you like to hear? I have many, having spent so many moons with the clans, but not all of them would interest you. As far as a special message from StarClan.. Well you got me, and the wisdom I always passed to my daughter is to follow your heart. Regardless of where it seems to be taking you, follow it. It won't lead you astray." She mewed softly.
"Oh, just any story related to our clan that you think might interest me would be fine, but if you don't really have any then its fine." Featherpaw responded to Dappleshine before carefully listening to her word of advice and speaking again, "I will try my best though it might not always be easy."
"Hmm... Well, have you been told anything about the flood? It washed away all of the clans, most of us to a large lake south of the territory. We had to follow the river back. I was actually born on that distant shore, my father having been killed by the water and my mother passing shortly after myself and my siblings were born. We had to rebuild everything, the camp had been destroyed. The clans all had to work together to make it home... It was a challenge, to say the least. But you'd never know it, looking at the camp now, would you?" She mewed softly, nodding in agreement. "It will definitely be a struggle sometimes, but it's worth it. I promise you that."
