The Night is Cold [Swiftpaw, Spottedkit]

Mistyfalcon led Swiftpaw back into camp, prey dangling from their jaws. The territory was particularly muddy tonight. Muddy and cold, and Mistyfalcon was glad to be back in camp. Prey was becoming harder to find, though the pair had been lucky enough to catch most of what they found.

"We'll take some of this to the nursery, then you can find something to eat yourself. I think we're done for the night." He mewed to Swiftpaw, dropping all but a vole onto the fresh-kill pile. He was looking forward to getting the slush out from his paws and curling up in his shared nest with Murkystar, but making sure the clan was fed was important. With a soft huff, and not at all enjoying the sight of his breath pluming in front of him from the cold, Mistyfalcon turned and led the apprentice toward the nursery. If the queens were smart, they'd be keeping the kits inside where it was hopefully a little warmer.

Swiftpaw purred happily her hunting skills were improving and she was happy she could be helping provide for her clan.

It was an added bonus that she got to hang out with her favorite cat of all time Mistyfalcon. She loved spending time with her mentor/father. So even though the weather was far from ideal she still was happy enough.

"Lovely weather eh?" she said sarcastically as she nudged Mistyfalcon's shoulder jokingly, knowing her father liked a little sarcasm every now and then.

She shook her front paws trying to get the filth and slush off them. Her white fur coat showing every mud stain very clearly.

"Ughh I couldn't even look good if I tried... not that I try" she groaned in her usual overdramatic, talkative way.

She nodded at her fathers directions and followed close behind him still pep in her step as she bounded toward the nursery with some food for any hungry cats there

That was alot of fun! We should hunt more together! Maybe you could show me some more sparring practice too? OOOH maybe this time I will actually pin you for once. Maybe Nightpaw could come with us too? ohh and burningwing I hear he is really a good fighter, maybe night and I could watch you and him do a practice spar and learn a bunch she talked nonstop as usual. She hoped he would agree to any or all of these activities.

She padded into the nursery behind Mistyfalcon her eyes adjusting to the dimmer light inside. It was warmer though and it felt good to be away from the harsh wind.

Spottedkit sneezed a couple times as she walked out of the nursery. She saw Misyfalcon and Swiftpaw returning to camp with prey and making their way over to the nursery themselves, overhearing a bit of their conversation. "I want to hunt with you too!" Spottedkit exclaimed.

"And I'm a mouse." Mistyfalcon scoffed at his daughter's sarcasm.

"We'll spar more, Nightpaw can always join us." He reassured her. Burningwing... He'd rather not, personally. He held no love for the tom and wasn't exactly happy that Nightpaw had requested him as a mentor.

Ducking into the nursery, he set down the prey he'd been carrying. It was a bit warmer inside, thankfully, and he was grateful to be out of the cold. One of the kits was awake, and had evidently heard part of their conversation. "When you're an apprentice." He mewed, lightly nudging the prey towards the kit.

Swiftpaw purred at Spottedkit's request. She knew what it was like to be bored in the nursery with not much to do. She remembered how badly she wanted to go hunt or leave camp when she was a kit as well. Her adopted sister Spottedkit, was a lot like her in that regard.

Maybe I can take you out for a quick look around... when dad goes to bed

she thought to herself.
Wondering if it would be worth it or not....

Mistyfalcon would lose a lot of trust in her so that reason alone meant it was unlikely to happen, but... maybe. She also couldn't think what would happen if something went wrong if they snuck off even for a little.

"hmm yes when you are an apprentice she murmured deciding firmly that it would be a bad idea to show the kit around before that.

Spottedkit frowned a bit because she was sad she couldn't go out right now. But then saw Mistyfalcon set down the piece of prey in front of her paws. Seeing the prey in front of her caused Spottedkit's stomach to growl, reminding her that she was hungry. "is this mine? I'm hungry" Spottedkit asked. She wanted to make sure before she took a bit out of it.

Blue eyes narrowed slightly at Swiftpaw's mumbled response. "Swiftpaw." There was a hint of warning in his voice as he lightly nudged her with his shoulder. He knew how impatient kits could be, and he knew how easily apprentices could be swayed by their questions. Really, he sympathized, but this was one of the more sensible rules to follow.

Mistyfalcon had heard the kit's stomach growl... Looks like they'd gotten back from hunting at the right time. "Yes, it's yours. And you sound hungry, go on and eat." He responded, settling back on his haunches. The den was warm and he... Didn't really feel like trudging back into the cold just yet.

Swiftpaw nodded understanding, the warning was easily recognizable. She nudged him back gently purring softly as she did so "i know" she meowed quietly. She would not need to be told twice.
Breaking a rule was one thing but breaking a direct order from Mistyfalcon... never gonna happen.

She watched her adopted sister begin to eat and remembered she had food as well... however everyone else was asleep in the nursery and the elders had been fed earlier
(OOC: I'm making that part up hope that's okay).

She set the piece of prey down between her and Mistyfalcon. "wanna share?" she pushed it towards him slightly hoping he would eat.

"Thanks", Spottedkit said gratefully and simply to Mistyfalcon for bringing her the prey. Then she started eating the prey as both Swiftpaw and Mistyfalcon also began to eat too.

Mistyfalcon glanced towards Swiftpaw, rolling his eyes at the way she nudged his shoulder. "Alright," The elders had been fed already, she might as well eat too. Mistyfalcon wasn't overly hungry, so would let her have the lion's share of the prey regardless. As was habit, the tom fell into silence, and would be perfectly content not to break it himself.

Swiftpaw continued eating, the silence annoyed her though, she was used to talking.

So Spottedkit, if you could pick any mentor who would it be and why? she asked hoping to strike up a conversation at least during their family dinner. You must be really ready to get out of the camp and nursery. I remember being so bored stuck here when I was a kit. Hmm maybe just maybe they could peak around... hmm it was very... tempting... it would depend on Spottedkits response.

Swiftpaw grinned at Mistyfalcon rolling his eyes it was fun to nudge at him a little bit, it reminded him she was still playful and enjoyed his company.

Spottedkit finished a bite of her prey and thought for a few minutes before replying, "I'm not sure honestly" Spottedkit said simply, then took another bite of food.
