Hollypaw's Moonstone Journey

With a whisk of her tail and a huff, Cloverheart rose to her paws and strode out of the den. A bundle of herbs was clasped between her jaws, and she was set straight for the apprentice's den. She had a weary feeling about this trip, as she often did, but the company would be good, at least. Poking her nose into the den, she sought out the familiar pelt and carefully trod over to Hollypaw, setting the herbs down near her. "It's time for your trip to Highstones. Are you ready?" The medicine cat mewed softly, nosing the apprentice's shoulder before retreating.


Hauling her way up Highstones, Cloverheart paused to catch her breath and give Hollypaw a look. "We're here. Now all that's left is to meet StarClan! It'll be dark in there, so stay close, okay? There was a chipper tune to her words, and she made her way towards Mothermouth, dipping into the tunnel. Experienced paws lead them easily to the Moonstone, and Cloverheart gave the gleaming quartz a nod. "Go ahead, Hollypaw. Lay down beside it and touch your nose to the stone; you'll dream, and I'll be right here when you wake up."

As a familiar molly's voice spoke up, Hollypaw flicked her ear— quickly realizing who that was. She sat up from her moss bed, blinking the drowsiness away from her eyes. It's my moonstone journey today, is it not? A bundle of herbs were set down relatively near her, and she took notice of it, bringing it over to her paws. She'd swallow the herbs, and she'd force her usual expression to maintain its presence without showing how how bitter the herbs tasted. Once she have ate the herbs, her eyes shifted its glance to Cloverheart, nodding as she smiled back. "Yes— I'm ready, Cloverheart." She mewed.


Her paws felt sore by the time they arrived, and she felt glad that she had agreed to swallow the herbs from earlier. They surely have helped. Cloverheart turned to glance over to her, and she repeated the same, nodding. The skilled medicine cat led her into the tunnel, and she stayed close, seeing how immensely dark it was. Soon, they've already arrived at the Moonstone, and the molly's eyes widened in astonishment. Cloverheart's words made her feel encouraged, and she stepped up to the gleaming stone; slowly lowering herself until she finally laid down beside it. Hollypaw turned her head back to the other molly, mumbling a silent "Thank you" before glancing back to the stone. She pressed her nose to it, and felt herself drifting off to a deep sleep.


A starry landscape was waiting for her as she blinked, now only just realizing that she was in StarClan. She smiled, laughing softly to herself as she gazed around. This— This was StarClan! Her tail rose high up in the air, and she felt the anxiety from earlier completely vanish in her. Though then came a StarClan cat, and she felt her throat tighten— even though she was unsure of why. Despite of that, she gave them a respectful dip of the head, gazing up to look at the unfamiliar figure again.

Dappleshine padded forward, smiling warmly at the apprentice that formed before her. Stars twinkled in her long fur, and she returned the respectful nod. "Greetings, Hollypaw. Welcome to StarClan. My name is Dappleshine, it's a pleasure to meet you!" She purred, stopping in front of the she-cat.

The she-cat whom has just introduced herself as 'Dappleshine' returned her nod, and a small smile formed on the tips of her maw again. "That's a wonderful name," She spoke, "And it's a pleasure to meet you, too." Her eyes shifted towards the molly's twinkling fur, and her eyes widened with interest. So it was true— that StarClan cats really looked like stars. It wasn't that she didn't believe the others before, though she wanted to see it for herself. And now, she has. StarClan really was a wonder to her. Incredible, fascinating events happened here, and she had no proper explanation of how those things happened.

"Dappleshine, I have a few questions. Is it alright if I ask you for advice?" She waited for the molly's reply; and whether or not it ended up as an acceptance, she gathered enough courage to continued on. "My mother.. Well, adoptive mother, Scarletriver— have barely talked to me ever since she accepted me as one of her own. Do you think I should try and catch a conversation with her again? It has been a long while..." She sat down, tail wrapping up against her paws.

"Thank you," Dappleshine purred, lowering her head briefly. She waited for a moment while the young cat took her in, and blinked when she spoke again. She nodded silently, and soon the she-cat continued. She hummed as she sat down, gazing at the other cat. "Yes, I think that would be good. Especially for you - and at such a turning point, as you prepare to become a warrior, it is essential to know who stands behind you. I do hope, as the one who adopted you, she would be willing to do so, but if she isn't... Then I encourage you to find those who do." She mewed softly.
