Soaring Through the Sky (Closed)

Ashstorm woke up slightly later than she should have, especially since she was training a new apprentice today.  She looked out at the rising sun and then quickly pushed herself up to standing after realizing that the apprentice might already be up.  She rushed out of the den and towards the apprentice den.  The air was cool that morning, which Ashstorm much preferred to the blazing green-leaf sun and scorching heat.  After reaching the apprentice den, she looked in.  "Bonepaw?" She called in.  "Time for your first day of training!"

Bonepaw lay on his stomach in the apprentices' den, narrow eyes trained on the exit. His body buzzed with impatience, his nerves exacerbated by the fact that some of the cats he now shared a den with were so much bigger than him. He'd hated being the biggest in the nursery, but he'd almost been squished like fifteen times in the several nights sleeping here since his ceremony. What did these beasts' mothers feed them??

Thankfully, he was finally rescued by the arrival of his mentor. A flash of annoyance crossed his expression before he remembered that she was his deputy, and any attitude from him could end up being reported to Bloodstar. He shuddered involuntarily and got to his feet.

"Ashstorm. Good morning." He didn't make eye contact. What was Ashstorm like, anyway? She didn't strike him as the authoritative type, but he kept his tone clipped and professional just in case. "What are we doing today?"

Ashstorm waited for the young apprentice to come out of the nursery.  She noted his formal tone.  She noticed that tone was used more, especially by the younger of the clan, ever since she became deputy.  It bothered her.  She did not want others to feel like they were just under her because of the new fancy title she had recently given.  She was still the same cat, the only difference was she had a little more to do.  Still, from an apprentice it was still a nice gesture, so she did not care as much.

"We're going to be going hunting, and, depending on how hunting goes, maybe even fighting a predator," she informed him.  "Please follow me," she said after, and then began walking out of camp.  She walked a bit farther out, but close enough were they could get back quickly if need be.

"The unfortunate pain of leaf-fall is that it's hard to sneak up on prey with the dry leaves all around.  There's not much I can help you learn with that, except just try not to walk on any of the leaves."  She looked around a moment, deeming that this would be a good place to hunt.

"As far as hunting goes, you need to get into a stance like this," she told him, getting in the hunting stance that she mentioned.  "Then, as quietly a you can, walk up to the prey and kill it."  She spotted a squirrel going after a nut that had fallen from a tree.  "Watch what I do," she instructed.  Slowly, she walked towards the creature, in the stance which she told Bonepaw to go in. Unfortunately, she stepped on some leaves that crinkled under her paws, revealing were she was. The squirrel quickly ran away. Ashstorm would have chased after it, if she did not feel the need to stay with her apprentice. She turned back towards him. "So, like that only try not to make noise because of the leaves. If you feel like you understand, then you can go try."

Ashstorm used 3SP attempting to catch a squirrel.  Catch was unsuccessful.
