When the Night Reaches [c]

Bravely, Ratpaw dove for the creature's slim body, slicing his fangs deep into it's skin. He acted quickly, and fiercely. Duskpaw felt proud he was able to build trust with him for how he immediately aimed for the snake, but it probably wasn't the right time to reminisce about that now. They still had a predator to defeat. The snake bared it's fangs in hostility, eyes blazing up in a coiling movement in prepare to strike back Ratpaw and it did. In a fury of mixed emotions, Duskpaw bared his fangs to reveal a sharp row of teeth, striking diligently towards the snake's so-called neck.

He felt his fangs pierce through it's scaly skin, and immediately repeated the other apprentice's stun just earlier. He bit in. Sharply. Feeling the tension from the snake's body slowly loosen up, he released his fangs from the creature, exhaling out a sigh of relief. He'd done it!  In an instant afterwards, Duskpaw scanned over the other apprentice for injuries, concern showing clear in his eyes. "Are you alright?," He paused to catch his breath, "Did the snake bite too hard?"

Snake used Serpent Strike on Ratpaw, dealing 6 damage and using 10 stamina.
Duskpaw used Snap on Snake, dealing 7 damage (6+1 due to Night Finesse) and using 7 stamina.

In a quick, ferocious movement, the snake fell limp in Duskpaw’s jaws, and Ratpaw knew it was dead. They had killed it!

Foreleg stinging with pain, it was hard to feel as enthused about it as he otherwise would be. He winced — his mom had warned him sternly about snakes, and how the fluid in their fangs could kill grown cats. But... it only felt like a wound. “I’m okay, Duskpaw. Are you?”

He approached the older tom, limping, to brush pelts reassuring and sniff at Duskpaw’s own bite. He had been bitten earlier — was it venomous? Would they know by now? Duskpaw... seemed all right, if relieved now that the snake was dead. The young tom then considered the snake on the grass...

Ratpaw... never did get to try snake, all those moons ago. But then... “Do you think it’s safe to eat?”

Struck by his curiosity once again, the young apprentice went to get a close look when he winced at the pain in his leg. Ouch! He could walk, but it hurt to step on! ”Well... maybe it’s time to go back to camp now. I don’t think I can catch anything like this.”
