Brookpaw's Warrior Ceremony

Lilacstar once again made her way to the tall rock, where another apprentice was to be made a warrior. This one was a long time coming. Downtuft's little spitfire of an apprentice, whose antics the tabby leader had quite enjoyed watching. The dynamics between apprentice and mentor never seemed to stop changing, often times being rather comedic, and perhaps sometimes being a tad exhausting, but never a moment that was dull.

Looking down upon her Clan, Lilacstar raised her head to begin the meeting. "Let all cats old enough to run the moors gather around the tall rock for a Clan meeting!"

From the proud grin on Downtuft's face yesterday when she visited him in the medicine den, she knew what this ceremony was about and she was ready. I will make you proud, Downtuft. the apprentice thought, padding confidently to the edge of the crowd.

This was her moment to shine.

Lilacstar smiled down at the apprentice before her.

"I paid a visit to the medicine den, and was informed that a certain apprentice was ready to become a warrior. Brookpaw step forward."

Waiting until the apprentice had obeyed, Lilacstar then carried on with the ceremony. "I call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. She has worked hard to learn the ways of your noble code, even if she gave a few cats a bit of a headache along the way, and I commend her to you a warrior in return." She paused to let any laughter from her joke died down. "Brookpaw, do you promise to protect and defend this Clan, even at the cost of your own life?"

Brookpaw's tail swished in anticipation. She knew it was her ceremony, and so of course when Lilacstar finally said so she wasn't very surprised. Stepping forward, her thoughts wanderered to what her warrior name would be. Brookpetal? Too soft. Brookthorn? It sounded nice, she supposed. Brooktuft? That would've been an honor, to be named after Downtuft.

When Lilacstar changed the words slightly, Brookpaw looked over her shoulder, an exasperated look as she watched Downtuft howl in laughter. Turning back, with full and complete confidence, she proclamed her absolute loyalty to her Clan. "I do, Lilacstar. I'll always defend my Clan."

"Good. Then from this day forward, you will be known as Brookthistle. Like the thistle flower that protects itself with thorns, we know that you will protect us just the same. WindClan honors your ferocity and passion, and we welcome you as a full warrior."

Stepping down to rest her muzzle on Brookthistle's head, Lilacstar then began the cheer. "Brookthistle! Brookthistle!"

Brookthistle. Her name was now Brookthistle. The newly named warrior grinned, it was a perfect name for her! Especially after she and Sunpaw had showed those SkyClan rats! Speaking of.. Turning around, she scanned the crowd for her new friend, and upon seeing his pelt she bounded up. "I'm sure you'll receive your name any day now, Sunpaw!" Brookthistle chirped, the usually snarky and sassy molly in a good mood - both from her ceremony and from making her first friend, outside of Downtuft, of course.
