Sunkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Guilt was an emotion that Dayspring did not handle well. Considering the fact that she barely ever found herself getting into serious trouble, it wasn't an emotion that she felt often, but it never ended well for her when she did. She could feel it grow inside of her stomach everyday to the point that she was beginning to feel physically sick, but she did her best to keep a straight face in front of her clanmates. Another cat would be joining the apprentices' den today, and Dayspring was determined to not let the sour feeling that she had been feeling in her throat for days on end mess up Sunkit's special day. Dawnhawk existing in WindClan still terrified her... but what kind of deputy would she be if she let her fears get in the way of the simplest of duties like ceremonies?

Leaping onto the tallrock had become second nature to her, but as she stood upon it now, she began to hope that none of the cats below could see through her.
"May all cats old enough to run the moor gather beneath the Tallrock for a Clan meeting!" She called out, refusing to let her voice waver.

Sunkit had been pacing around camp to familiarize himself with his surroundings when he heard the call. He wavered, unsure if he was supposed to go too. Old enough to run the moor... He could do that, right? Cautiously, he joined the rest of the cats as they gathered before the deputy, Dayspring.

He was only half-listening, thinking hard about what this meeting could be for. He knew that Lilacstar did really important meetings, so...what did Dayspring do? Although, his father had said he would earn his apprentice name soon after he joined WindClan... Sunkit's hummingbird-fluttering heart leapt into his throat. Was this for him?

Dayspring gave Sunkit an encouraging smile as she gave the next set of instructions.
"Sunkit, please step forward."

The deputy recited the words that she knew as soon as the kit below her had taken a step forward.
"Sunkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Sunpaw. Your mentor will be Goldenfang."
After she was finished speaking, the she-cat leaped off of the Tallrock to end the ceremony and give the new mentor-apprentice duo time to greet each other.

Goldenfang strode forward to greet her new apprentice and tapped her nose gently to his. She’d been told ahead of time that Sunpaw was to be hers, and she sat through the ceremony with a wide smile that spelled out her excitement clears as day. She never met Sunpaw’s father, Clearstone, but she knew how it felt to be introduced to a new way of living at a very young age. No doubt things would be unfamiliar for the new apprentice; she’d do her best to train him with all the skill that Honeyheart had mentored her. ”Congratulations, Sunpaw! We’ll start training tomorrow morning. For now, go ahead and get your nest set up with the other apprentices’ and get used to being a ‘paw.”
