A comfortable silence stretched between them before Emberleap spoke again, and Murkystrike's chest and ears felt suddenly warm. As she recalled the day, the heat only increased, and she shuffled a paw across the ground in front of her before responding. "Well... We had become good friends, over the moons. It seemed like the next step to take in my eyes, but I was waiting to see what he decided he wanted to do. If I'm being honest... I don't know how things would be if Rosethorn hadn't come around. She teased him almost incessantly, and I believe that she was the reason he finally came to me.. about... well, being mates." Her voice softened with embarrassment. "Either way, he approached me with the biggest hare I've ever seen, and we talked for a while before he confessed, and I did the same. Rosethorn nearly trampled him underpaw when we became official, but he managed to survive her ruthless attack."
