Lost In Time (CLOSED)

Herb Hunting Rolls:

Rookfire led a patrol with Fangpaw, Batglow, Murkystrike, and Mistyfalcon. The plan was for it to be a herb hunt mostly, but they probably would hunt on the side as well. The black tuxedo didn't mind, since it was another way of helping the Clan. He told them the main herbs that they would be looking for and what they looked like before they came out here, just so that the four cats knew what they were looking for.

Padding into ShadowClan's marshes, the medicine cat searched for the herbs that he needed. Nothing so far, but there was a sprig of water hemlock growing there, if he ever wanted to make a cat suffer a painful death. Of course, he didn't want to do that, and he had poisons in his den already, placed where they wouldn't be accidentally ingested by any unsuspecting cats. "You guys have any better luck finding some herbs? Or maybe some prey?"

Murkystrike's pelt brushed against Mistyfalcon's occasionally as they walked together with the rest of the patrol. Rookfire had described what they were looking for, but the she-cat was having difficulty focusing on looking. Fangpaw had come along with them, as well as Batglow, and as they entered the marshes Murkystrike pulled away from her mate to look around a bit more closely. "Nothing yet, Rookfire... I'll go check this way, though." Motioning to the right with her tail, she flicked Mistyfalcon's shoulder lightly before heading off, running through Rookfire's list in her mind. Cobwebs, alder bark.... Her eyes scanned the area and landed on a small grouping of poppy flowers. Poppy seeds! She recalled seeing the poppy heads in the medicine den, and she quickly made her way over the marshy ground to gingerly collect them. Returning to the group with her find, she set them down, careful to not shake loose any of the seed. "I found some poppy over there, you needed some didn't you?"

Mistyfalcon was happy to accompany Rookfire in looking for herbs, and was... glad of the company he found himself him. He walked at Murkystrike's side, their pelts occasionally brushing. Batglow and Fangpaw, one of the newer apprentices, were with them, too.

He turned as Murkystrike split from him, eyes scanning the marshes and pines around them for herbs. He'd recognized some of the ones that Rookfire was searching for from his own stays in the medicine den, and so he'd look for the familiar ones if he could.

The plant that caught his eye wasn't... entirely familiar, but he recognized it vaguely as one of the plants in Rookfire's den. Rounded yellow leaves stood out against the marsh, at least.

"Rookfire, I found... something. Tansy, I think...?" Mistyfalcon would let the medicine cat do what he needed to, he didn't want to damage the plant if it wound up being something useful.

Batglow let out a small sigh of relief. Herb hunting was something he loved to help out with. He looked over to the new mate pair before looking back to his medicine cat, and the young apprentice. It seemed everyone was in good spirits. The lanky black tom pushed himself to move forward, taking a moment to nudge his friends as he passed them, giving them a grin as he went.

As he pushed forward, his yellow green eyes scanned the marsh for any of the herbs that Rookfire had needed. He could recall them for the most part, so this should be pretty easy. Ah Horsetail. He caught sight of the pant, moving to harvest it putting it somewhere safe for the time being. "Got some Horsetail for you Rookfire." The tom informed his friend.

Rookfire was also hunting for herbs that they needed for the clan. Searching the clearing for something that they needed, he saw stringy webs attached to a rock. Cobwebs. Grabbing the webs, he padded back to the group. Murkystrike found poppy seeds, Mistyfalcon found tansy, and Batglow got horsetail. "I got cobwebs myself," he grinned. "The four of us make a great team!" Four of them. Four of them. There were five cats who went on the herb hunt, and only four came back. Maybe Fangpaw was just out hunting or something, but it still was strange to see him not coming back yet. "Do you guys know where Fangpaw is?"

Mistyfalcon gave Rookfire a surprised look at the mention of four cats. Fangpaw had been with them... And Fangpaw hadn't turned up with anything after they had regrouped...

"Was he with any of you?" He asked, but if Fangpaw had been with one of the others, surely he would've regrouped alongside them. Mistyfalcon parted his jaws, trying to pick up the apprentice's scent.

Nothing. Dark blue eyes narrowed slightly at the realization. "We should look for him." There was plenty of trouble for a new apprentice to get into, and Mistyfalcon didn't think it needed to be said. The marshes were unkind to those who didn't watch there step, and that Fangpaw hadn't returned by now was worrying. He was one of the younger apprentices, and Mistyfalcon was unsure how far he'd gotten into battle training with his mentor. He hadn't known the apprentice well at all beyond putting a name to a less-than-remarkable face, but Fangpaw was still a clanmate.

Murkystrike placed the poppies down as everyone returned, smiling as she saw that everyone had decent luck. No, wait. Her stomach dropped as she made the sudden realization at the same moment Rookfire put it into words. As Mistyfalcon spoke, Murkystrike shook her head. "No, he didn't come with me, that I noticed at least... I'll go back to way I came and circle around that way." She mewed quickly, before heading back towards where she had found the poppy flowers. He had to be out here somewhere, he wouldn't have just...  Disappeared. The thought made her stomach twist. The marshes were a dangerous place for even the most experienced cats.... She called his name, receiving no answer, as she began to slowly circle back around to where they had been grouped at.

Batglow's tail dropped at the mention of Fangpaw not being around. His yellow green eyes scanning the area around trying to catch wind of the apprentice that was just with them moments before. "Oh stars.." The black tom muttered softly to himself. "I will look the way I wandered off too, but.. I don't think he followed me." The tom could have sworn the apprentice was with one of the others but the fact that they let him slip out of their sight made him feel guilty.
